Pam Munoz Ryan, a beloved local author, is a two-time winner of the Pura Belpre Medal for ESPERANZA RISING and THE DREAMER and most recently, she won a Newbery Honor for her book, ECHO, this past year. Ryan will be discussing how she came to write ECHO during her breakout sessions.
Deborah Taylor is the Coordinator of School and Student Services at the Enoch Pratt Free Library in Baltimore, MD. She is a Coretta Scott King/Virginia Hamilton Lifetime Achievement Award for her body of service to the profession which includes numerous ALA committees as well as positions of leadership. Her breakout sessions will be on the Coretta Scott King Awards and the Sibert Medal, both of which she has chaired.
More information will be forthcoming next month about the exact details of the schedule, but the breakout sessions will include presentations from Janice Gilmore See (District Librarian in La Mesa-Spring Valley and past president of CSLA), Glen Warren (Coordinator of Literacies and Outreach and CSLA Vice President of Governmental Relations), Virginia Loh Hagan (award-winning author and SDSU faculty member), and Jonathan Hunt (Coordinator of Library Media Services at SDCOE), among others.
