Weekly notes from the Principal's office ~ 9/29/23
Notes From the Principal's Office ~ April 1, 2024
If you can believe it, we have arrived at quarter 4! Today students will rotate to their final quarterly unified arts class, and report cards will be issued on Friday, April 5th.
We also begin our first MCAS tests this week. ALL students will take ELA on Wednesday, April 3rd and Thursday, April 4th It is essential that all students participate in MCAS testing and put forth their best effort on testing days. MCAS gives teachers, students, and caregivers information about student progress towards grade level standards. Additionally, MCAS results can inform our district’s approach and decision making regarding curriculum, instruction, resources and educator professional development. Finally, MCAS is required under both state and federal law. Caregivers can help support students in being successful on the MCAS by ensuring students get a good night's sleep and arrive to school on time on testing days. Breakfast and snacks will be available for all students on MCAS days.
The last quarter is always a busy but fun one for the BMS community. We have concerts, theater performances, field trips, and field days in the weeks ahead. Spring can also be a very busy time for families. In order to participate in end of the year celebrations and events, students must be demonstrating our core values of respect, responsibility, and safety in the classroom and around the building. Caregivers can support students through quarter 4 by finding a dedicated time each day to complete homework assignments and by reinforcing positive behavior expectations at home. We look forward to continuing to work together to help all students finish the year on a positive note!

BMS Student is Seeking Donations for Cradles 2 Crayons
Every year, we select an 8th grade student to be our ambassador for our school in partnership with Project 351. Project 351 is a non-profit organization that brings together 351 8th-graders from all towns and cities in Massachusetts. Our ambassador this year is Alexis Buttrick, and for her spring service, she will be partnering with Cradles 2 Crayons and organizing a clothing drive. She has bins set up in various high-traffic areas around the school, such as in front of the gym and in the main office. She is looking for clothing donations anywhere from newborn to adult medium. If you have any donations, feel free to stop by throughout the day, and drop off your clothes. If you are interested in helping out with sorting the clothing, please email either me or Mr. Lundell @Christine Borning or @Dave Lundell.
BMS Skate Night @ Gallo ~ April 5th
March Madness
A HUGE thank you to the PTA and parent and staff volunteers who made March Madness such a fun event for our 6th and 7th grade students. Students enjoyed jousting, sumo wrestling, basketball, pickleball, Zumba, and karaoke. We are proud of our students who demonstrated the B2B core values all night. What a great event!
Grade 8 Students Interview Community Members
Grade 8 students are continuing their work on the Civic Action Projects by participating in "working lunches" where they have the opportunity to interview local community members. Community members included Mrs. Elizabeth Carpenito, Principal at Bournedale Elementary School, Mrs. Kerri Scofield, School Committee Member, Admiral McDonald from Mass Maritime Academy, and Mr. Nasser Brahim from Woods Hole Group.
Grade 7 Students Study Static Electricity
Students in Mrs. Lavoie and Mrs. Vidito's science classes learned about the power of static electricity during a recent lab.
