Notes from the Principal

The third quarter ends today. We have one quarter of school left. As my kids like to say before they start their evening homework ritual, “its time to lock-in”. Far too many kids fall off in the spring. I understand the weather is warm, the sun is out and it is hard to stay inside and focus on classwork. But we have one more quarter. One quarter to keep those grades up. One more quarter to balance homework and sports. One more quarter to of learning and growth.

I hope kids have a wonderful spring break and come back to school ready to finish strong.

Here are some important dates for our final quarter:

AK STAR Testing: April 1-3

NPHS Senior Finals: May 6-8

NPHS Graduation: May 13

Grades 9-11 Finals: May 19-21

Cultural Liaison

SkillsUSA Alaska State Contest March 26-28th

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards

What is RYLA?

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is a youth leadership development and training event sponsored worldwide by Rotary International and pu on by local Rotary clubs in Alaska. RYLA promotes the development and understanding of leadership principles. Participants learn about leadership qualities, what makes an effective team and apply what they learn in challenging activities. Some of the RYLA activities include a combination of experimental activities (don't worry-they are safe!), group discussions, group team building, group problem-solving activities, and some personal reflection time.

Who should apply?

Sophomores and Juniors (10th & 11th graders) in High SChoool can attend our event in Fairbanks, AK

What is the cost and how do I apply?

There is no cost for the students chosen to attend. The Rotary Club sponsoring you will cover all registration and travel costs. Application is here.
