Weekly Newsletter Oct. 14th -18th
Notes from the Principal
We are nearly a quarter of the way through our school year. The end of the first quarter is October 18th. Please visit PowerSchool and check up on any missing assignments your child might have. You can sign in to your parent portal at premier.k12northstar.org
Congratulations to our Cross-Country Running team. Our boy's team went to state for the first time in several decades.
Thank you to Ms. Dreydoppel and Mr. Kauffman for putting together excellent band and choir concerts this week. We have some truly talented students and I am impressed with the work teachers have done to engage our students and put on these concerts.
The office is always thrilled when Ms. Dreydoppel’s choir students come to sing for us. I would also like to thank Mr. Kauffman for his excellent work in starting a marching band, and for the dedication he has shown with our Pep Band during our football games. If you haven't had the opportunity to attend any of our concerts there will be more coming around the holiday season.
On the academic front, I am thrilled with the progress our Geometry in Construction class has made. Students are learning geometry and then applying what they learn to build in our shop. Recently they completed - and are about to paint - dog houses that will be sold to a local musher. The proceeds of the sale will exceed the supply costs and be used to further support the program and the purchase of more materials. Mrs. Atkins and Mr. Alexander have done an incredible job of motivating students and engaging them in real-world projects that support the learning they are doing in the classroom.
Finally, we are looking for teachers and aides. We have several open positions that have been posted since the beginning of the school year. If you are interested in becoming a special education aide, a special education math teacher, or a general resource teacher please apply at https://www.k12northstar.org/departments/human-resources/career-job-opportunities.

Be a Rotary Exchange Student
Rotary District 5010 seeks students with leadership qualities, an open-minded attitude, and a solid moral compass. We offer scholarships for students aged 15 to 17 to study abroad for a year through our Youth Exchange program or participate in our Short Term Summer program.
As cultural ambassadors, students can immerse themselves in a foreign country’s culture, representing both their home country and the Rotary club and district that supports them. This is not merely a travel vacation but a transformative live-in experience where students stay with host families and attend school in the host country. The scholarship value of this program, including room and board, school tuition, and support from Rotary Clubs in foreign countries, amounts to nearly $25,000.
For over 75 years, Rotary Youth Exchange has been expanding horizons and fostering global understanding. With participation from over 80 countries and more than 8,000 students each year, this program is administered at the regional level by Rotary districts and at the local level by Rotary clubs.
Embark on an exciting journey of studying abroad by exploring our Outbound Program. Discover the countless opportunities that await you!
