From the Middle EMS and ELA
News from the Principal, February 5, 2020
Hello Parents and Families,
Through our CCR Homeroom classes (College/Career Readiness), all students participated in making videos to share with our incoming 6th graders. Over the next few weeks, I'll share these videos--our kids did a great job capturing what middle school is all about.
Check out their great work here!
Also, in preparation for our work ahead, we are holding our next SAC (parent decision-making committee) meeting tomorrow, February 6 at 6:00 pm. We will be serving dinner--all ELA and EMS parents are invited.
We have a lot of great events and activities coming up.
Thank you for your support...as always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
~Annessa Hart, Principal
We LOVE Celebrations!
Our honorees included Emily Paccione as the winner of the Freedom Essay which is a national competition that students participated in during their social studies class. Ms. Crispino's Leadership Students won the Captain's Cup for their hard work putting together an information session for the Winterfest.
Our monthly Captain's Awards Winners went to:
- For Team ELA--Edwin Ruiz for Engagement
- For Team 7/8--Victoria Chavez for Work Ethic
- For Team 8--Michael Miles for Respect
- For Team 7--Kayla Allen for Work Ethic
Our Captain's Assemblies are a great time for us to bring together all students and staff to recognize the hard work happening throughout our building.
Ms. Trish--one of our front office staff--also challenged students to win our "ID Competition" going on through the month of February. In order to promote student safety, we ask that students wear IDs every day, all day. Ms. Trish and the office student assistants came up with a competition to see which classes can wear their IDs 100% of the time. Encourage your students to wear their IDs every day or swing by the office first thing to get a sticker if they forgot their ID.
We are so proud of all our students and teachers for their efforts here at EMS and ELA.
