Davisburg Dateline

Do you ever wonder what your child does all day at school? Although they might tell you, “Nothing” or “I can’t remember” I assure you they do many fun and meaningful activities. Ask your child who they play with at recess, or what they like to do on the playground. Ask about the book they are reading or what they are writing about during writing time. When you ask about school, it helps children see that we are a team and every part of their life is important. If you need more specific ideas, please reach out to the classroom teacher.

Speaking of being a team, you should be getting information about Parent/Teacher Conferences soon. Please be sure to schedule a conference with your child’s teacher. This time is so important to share the progress your child has made, as well as next steps for their learning. It’s an opportunity for you to ask questions and better understand where your child is as a learner. If you have questions about conferences, please contact the office.

All changes made to students end of day dismissal plan MUST come from a parent in the form of a note or call. Teachers do not always get to their emails prior to the end of the day so do not rely on an email. If teachers are not informed of a change, students will follow their normal routine, we will not take the word of the student for a change. All adjustments need to be completed by 3:30.

• 9/23-36 Vision Screening PS, Y5, 1, 3, 5
• 9/27 No School - Staff PD day

Our car line is HUGE again this year, so please be patient. We need some help from you as well, please utilize the car line correctly by:

• Students can not be released from their vehicle until staff is present, there is no supervision
• Do NOT get out of your car, traffic is flowing in both lanes.
• Students need to enter & exit the vehicle on the passenger side only.
• Keep moving forward.
• If you do not have a window sign, please make one with your students first initial & last name as well as grade.
• Drop off and pick up must be done in the car line area, students dropped off on Davisburg road is EXTREMELY dangerous and the school is not responsible for their safety at this area.
• Students who are walkers (we only have a handful), parents can wait for them on the sidewalk near the front of the school @ dismissal, they will come out with car line and we will send them over.
• If you are not an actual walker, you must use the car line, we will not release students otherwise. There is NO office pick up unless you are a preschool parent.
• If you can utilize a bus, it is highly recommended to do so. If you need information on bus routes you can contact transportation at 248-328-3090.
  

• Students can enter the building at 8:30, supervision is not available prior to that unless they are enrolled in Latchkey.
• Breakfast is served 8:30 - 8:45 daily, students who arrive late to school may not be able to get a breakfast.
• Students are considered tardy if they are not in class by 8:45, students will be marked absent for the morning if they arrive between 9:45 - 12:00. Students who are picked up for the day between 12:00 - 2:45 will receive an afternoon absence and those students who leave for the day after 2:45 will be marked tardy for the afternoon.
• School ends at 3:46 on full days and 12:00 on half days.
