Suffolk Public Schools Advanced Instruction Information Night
The Suffolk Public Schools Advanced Instruction Information Night will take place on Wednesday, October 16 at King's Fork High School - 351 King's Fork Road - from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Join us for breakout session rotations, conversation, Q&A and "Brain Power" Hour! Please complete the SPS Advanced Instruction Form before October 11th to enhance the experience!

Suffolk Public Schools Saturday Academy Returns for the 2024-2025 School Year
Applications for the Suffolk Public Schools Saturday Academy Session for October 12 Will Open on Wednesday, October 2.
The purpose of the SPS Saturday Academy is to offer remediation and acceleration sessions for students. SPS teachers and staff will provide hands-on, interactive instruction and additional support based on recently taught content. Instruction will reinforce identified power skills within specific content areas' Standards of Learning. In-person sessions will be held at Elephant’s Fork Elementary School (K-5) and King’s Fork Middle School (6-12). There will be no virtual classes for Saturday Academy. Students in grades 3-8 must bring their fully charged Chromebook and charger to each session.
Sessions will be held roughly every other Saturday through May 3, 2025, with holiday adjustments. For additional information and to see the 2024-2025 SPS Saturday Academy schedule, please visit our website, www.spsk12.net.
Virginia State University College of Education Students Visit Nansemond River High School and Hear from Leaders in SPS
Virginia State University College of Education students took a tour of Nansemond River High School as part of their 3-S Tours to Suffolk, Sussex, and Southampton. Members of our leadership team shared our school division's mission, vision, and philosophy in hopes of motivating aspiring teachers to apply to Suffolk Public Schools after graduation.
King's Fork Middle School Hosts the Virginia Children's STEM Institute
The Virginia Children’s Engineering STEM Institute took place on September 21, 2024. It was an engaging event aimed at inspiring and equipping Pre-K to Middle School teachers and students with innovative strategies in STEM education. Our keynote speaker was Dr. John B. Gordon III, the esteemed Superintendent of Suffolk Public Schools. The institute offered hands-on engineering challenges, creative problem-solving, and the integration of STEM across the curriculum, aligned with the VA Standards of Learning. Participants gained valuable insights and tools to nurture a love for STEM in young learners, preparing them for future success in an increasingly technological world.
