A Note from Mrs. Hoch
Taylor Families,
As we embark upon the final day of the school year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the journey we’ve shared together. Just yesterday I was stepping into this new role as your building principal anticipating the connections and relationships that would be forged between colleagues, students, and families. I could never have imagined the open arms and welcome that I would receive from that very first day.
This year has been filled with student success, laughter, and yes, even some growing pains along the way. From mastering new concepts in the classroom to forming lasting friendships on the playground, students have demonstrated their determination, resilience, and creativity. It has been my privilege to witness this firsthand and I couldn't be prouder to be their principal.
Learning new things isn't easy and involves stumbling blocks and setbacks. It’s through these growing pains that we, adults and children alike, learn valuable life lessons. We discover the power of perseverance, the importance of asking for help, and the joy of celebrating progress, no matter how incremental.
As the 2023-2024 school year comes to a close, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you, our parents and families. Thank you for sharing your children and entrusting us with their care. Your support, encouragement, and partnership have been instrumental in creating an environment of curiosity, learning, and growth.
We look forward to welcoming them back next year, ready to embrace new challenges, celebrate more successes, and continue this remarkable journey.
Have an amazing summer,
- Mrs. Hoch
Save the Date
Summer mailing for the 2024-2025 school year is scheduled to be sent to families on Friday, August 23, 2024. This packet will include information on your child(ren)'s teacher and other important documents.
With teacher departures and changes in enrollment comes a combination of new teacher grade level assignments and new hires. No matter which amazing teacher your child is assigned to, please know our teachers are thoughtful and take into consideration multiple factors throughout the student placement process. I would like to take this opportunity to provide one final reminder that I am unable to accept specific teacher requests, and will not be changing students' assigned teachers at any point.
With that, I would like to wish Mrs. Joslyn, Mrs. Coyne, and Miss Sinclair an amazing year as they will not be returning in September. We look forward to when they will be back with us!
Mrs. Joslyn (grade 1) and Mrs. Coyne (grade 3) will be taking the year to spend time with their little ones, Baby Bentley and Evalee.
Miss Sinclair (grade 2) will be spending next school year teaching abroad in Spain.
2024-2025 Brief Update
- We are on schedule to re-open our main entrance in the fall which will feature our new secured vestibule! Be prepared for a new, safer experience at Taylor and while limiting access to the inside of the building during the instructional day will feel different for you as Taylor families, that’s what makes it secure!
- Parent pick-up at dismissal may look different. In full transparency, I don’t know what this will look like just yet, but I am working closely with our building and district team on exploring operations relative to this important daily aspect of our school day.
- If you’re interested in getting a head start on school supplies, you can find all grade level supply lists on our website under “Parent/Student Resources” here:

We will also send supply lists home in our summer mailing, which again, is scheduled to leave all elementary buildings on Friday, August 23.

What does "Being You" mean for our elementary students?
Many of you know that June is Pride Month. In our last communication we shared our intentions to celebrate our students and families. Students created pennants that spotlighted their interests, talents and hobbies; all things that make them who they are and all things that make them uniquely diverse! Below is a snapshot of their projects.
Best of Luck in Your Retirement!
Congratulations to Mrs. Minunni and Mrs. Spurling on their retirement.
Mrs. Minunni, Taylor greeter, started as a volunteer in our district back in 1998 before working under contract. Finding the balance between welcoming our families and ensuring the safety of our building, Mrs. Minunni has been a staple of our Taylor community. Thank you for your years of service and commitment to our students.
Mrs. Spurling has been working with Kindergarteners at Taylor for the past 26 years. She began as a teacher's aide in the extended day Kindergarten program and has continued to enjoy working with our young learners each day.
Thank you to both of you for making a difference in our students' lives.
Thank you Ms. Coonelly!
Below is a snapshot of the Library Year in Review. New to Taylor this year, Ms. Coonelly took the lead building a love of reading in our students. For a more descriptive review, click the pdf below.
