Inclement Weather
As the cold weather sets in, we wanted to send out information about our cold weather policy. As a reminder, only students eating breakfast can enter the building at 7:30. All other students should not be dropped off until 7:45 as we do not have supervision.
For arrival, if the temperature feels like 23 degrees or less, all students will line up inside beginning at 7:45 when the supervision time begins. Students will be released to their classrooms at 7:55. For recess if the temperature feels like 23 degrees or less, students will have indoor recess. Once the temperature is above that threshold, outdoor recess will resume so please be sure students have appropriate warm weather gear.
Papa John's Tuesday
Our next Papa John's Tuesday is December 10th! A perfect day to enjoy an easy dinner and support Eisenhower. You can order online too! Please remember to use our Ike School Code KSE007.
Nurse's Corner
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Happy Holidays! This time of year, many students and their families will be celebrating various holidays. The celebrations often involve gathering with family, friends, and enjoying holiday food. Choosing the "right" foods to eat can be a challenge. Parents/guardians can be great role models for their children, choosing healthier food items and limiting ultra-processed and high-sugar foods. The food that we eat directly affects our immune system, which is the front-line defense system in helping us stay healthy. This is especially important this time of year with the increase of illnesses such as respiratory and stomach viruses - both of which are going around IKE and the community right now.
Eisenhower hearing rescreens will be conducted on Thursday, December 5th. This is for students who did not pass the first screening during hearing and vision screenings one month ago. The results will be sent home in their backpacks.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Have a healthy and happy holiday season,
Anna Robinette, RN
Counseling with Compassion
Character Strong
This month's focus is Empathy. One way to think about empathy is "understanding and connecting with other people's feelings. Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships.
Empathy is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Across grade levels, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
Hearts Apart
Fort Leavenworth Unified School District 207 offers a wonderful program we refer to as "Hearts Apart." Hearts Apart is designed to help students cope with the deployment of a parent. Your permission is required for your child to participate.
Hearts Apart provides students and families with a sense of community and belonging district wide. This is a great opportunity for spouses and their children to enjoy good food, relax, and enjoy the conversation and company of others. These events help children and their families understand that they are not alone in their experiences.
