Bloomingdale Avenue School
What an absolutely incredible week it's been at BAS! We're still buzzing with excitement from a series of truly special events that brought our entire school community together.
Our annual Field Day was an amazing success! The energy on the field was certainly noticeable, with students demonstrating incredible sportsmanship, teamwork, and enthusiasm across all the activities. Seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter was the best reward. A huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who helped make this day so memorable for our students! To our PTA Chairs for the event- Ms. Concannon, Ms. McMahon, & Ms. Fegan- thank you for all of your effort from planning to set-up and running events!
Also, we have to give a special shout-out to our creative Kindergarten students, who participated in our first BAS Word Parade! They truly outdid themselves, showcasing their understanding of words in imaginative and delightful ways. It was a joy to see their personalities shine through as well.
We are so grateful for your continued support and partnership in making these experiences possible for our children. Thank you for being such an integral part of the BAS family!

Field Day 2025
The annual Field Day was a resounding success! Check out some of the games below. Thank you again to the families, staff, and students for all of their efforts in creating such a fun atmosphere.
Classroom Highlight: Full Day Kindergarten Releases their Butterflies
As part of their "Living Things" science unit, our youngest learners have been observing the incredible metamorphosis of butterflies. After weeks of careful tending, they bid farewell to their magnificent butterflies as they released them. Through this hands-on experience, they learned about life cycles, growth, and the importance of caring for our natural world.
Kindergarten Word Parade
Our Kindergarten students put on a dazzling display of vocabulary today with their Kindergarten Word Parade! Each student chose a word that resonated with them, then transformed themselves into a representation of that word. From "cat" to "nap," "fox" to "cop," the creativity was astounding.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
On Tuesday and Friday, students met with Mrs. Biggiani to participate in stations where they practiced strategies that support our mental health including a Mindful Mystery Box Challenge, various deep breathing strategies, and a feelings reflection.
St. Jude Math-A-Thon
Dear Families,
Our students are joining St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® in the fight against childhood
cancer by participating in a St. Jude Math-A-Thon from 5/27 through 6/7. The Math-A-Thon helps kids refine their academic skills while teaching them that they have the power to help others. Kids will receive a Math-A-Thon funbook and can raise funds for the math problems they complete. Your involvement is a big part of making this program a success.
