Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck
Mister Softee Ice Cream Truck will be at WMS this year again. It will be here on the 2nd Thursday of each month this year. Mister Softee will be available during all lunches on those days.
Character word of the Month
We will have a character word we focus on each month of the school year. We will look at various aspects of. that word each week and ways we can put that word into practice as Woodland Wildcats.
RESPECT
Our character word for August is RESPECT. Respect is treating people as important and regarding them with great value, and honoring others with your words and actions.
STEM Update...
Woodland Middle School is a Bartow County Schools STEM certified school. We are seeking our Georgia Department of Education State Certification this year. We will be having 4 STEM showcases this year, as we have done the last several years. Ms. Tia Wilkes is our STEM coordinator. Our desire and goal is that STEM is not just something we do a few weeks out of the year, but part of our DNA as a school and something we do everyday in regular instruction. Part of our STEM focus is that we also have a STEM Connections class that is offered to all students.
Water Bottles...
We encourage students to bring a water bottle to school. They should be clear or see-through. No Yetis please.
Ice Cream Sales
Ice Cream is on sale every day. Bring $1 and get an ice cream after you finish eating your lunch.
Parent Resource Center
Our Parent Resource Center in the Media Center is open when school is open from 8:00 am - 3:30 pm. Parents can take advantage of internet access, email, parent portal and many other options on the computer in the media center. There are other resources like flash cards, maps and games that parents can check out for two-week intervals. We can also provide some materials for research projects: colored paper, bulletin board paper, etc.
Carpool at Arrival/Dismissal
Parents, we need your help to ensure that our carpool lanes are as safe as possible.
- We ask that you maintain no more than a 15 mph speed limit.
- Also, please do not allow your child to leave or enter your car until you reach the designated crosswalk area right in front of the main entrance.
- We maintain two lanes in the drive-through for carpool.
- We keep the middle lane clear for safety purposes.
Deadline for Items to be Dropped Off
Parents, please make sure your student has all belongings and necessary items before being dropped off in the morning. We will not be accepting items dropped off at the school after 8:30 am.
Cats Cash
Students who practice positive behavior may be recognized by their teachers or staff members. Staff members give out CATS cash to students who are exemplifying the "Woodland Way" and practicing good behavior. That CATS cash may be used as entrance into events such as dances, etc. or to buy items from our PBIS store.
PBIS Rewards App
We are excited to announce that we are now using the PBIS rewards app. This will take the place of CATS cash. Teachers and staff can use their phone or computer to give a student a point or digital CATS cash for doing the right thing. PBIS stands for positive behavior interventions and supports. We will have a PBIS store where students can go to redeem their points. Students can access their points from Class Link. Administrators and staff can also give adults points and they can also use their points to redeem prizes. We want to recognize people for following the Woodland Way and doing the right work.
Afternoon Checkout...
Parents: If you need to check your student out from school early, please do so before 3:00 pm. No students will be allowed to check out after 3:00 pm. Thank you for your support and assistance with this.
