LAMBERT
November 2024 Edition

Dear Longhorn Families,
As we head into November, the season of thanksgiving, please know how grateful I am to serve the Lambert community, especially your incredible kids! This month offers a special opportunity for reflection, and I am truly thankful for the home/school partnership we value as a community.
I am also continually inspired by the students we have the privilege to support every day. Their talent, creativity, kindness, and determination remind us of the important work we do together.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment and for being vital partners in our mission to help ALL students grow toward their potential. As we celebrate this season of gratitude, let us continue to lead, live, and love well.
Wishing you a joyful and fulfilling November.
Sincerely,
Amanda Thrower
Principal

PROGRAMS AND PATHWAYS NIGHTS
Attention, parents of rising 9th graders! This message is to let you know that we are already getting ready for your child to join us next year...can you believe it?! We would like to formally invite you to Lambert High School's Programs & Pathways Night on Wednesday, November 6, 6:00-8:00 (Last Names A-L) OR Thursday, November 7, 6:00-8:00 (Last Names M-Z). This night will allow both you and your child to hear a brief overview of all programs and pathways available to Lambert students, as well as provide an opportunity to attend choice sessions to explore specific pathway information.
PRIOR to the evening you attend, visit our Programs and Pathways website and follow all instructions for selecting your choice sessions ahead of time. We are so excited you’re becoming a part of the Longhorn family, and we look forward to seeing you on November 6th or 7th!
TECH TIPS FROM OUR EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY COACHES
Lambert High school is committed to upholding the Forsyth County Schools’ Bring Your Own Technology (BYOT) policy. The purpose of BYOT is to support the 4 C’s of Digital Age Learning- Creativity, Collaboration, Communication, and Critical Thinking. These skills are essential in preparing our students for today’s colleges and business opportunities. We recommend a laptop or Chromebook for completing online instructional activities and assignments. A laptop keyboard and screen are better for typing, viewing resources, building presentations, note-taking, and researching. We look forward to the educational opportunities that BYOT brings and thank you for your continued support.
Digital Citizenship
In conjunction with our BYOT policy, we want to make sure our students are staying safe and using technology responsibly. Please visit the Digital Citizenship Tools for Families page and explore some of the tips, articles, and videos that can help you best support your student(s).
JUNIOR INFORMATION NIGHT
Junior Information Night will be held on Tuesday, November 12th at 5:30 p.m. in the LHS Auditorium. Please join us for information regarding graduation, college exploration, HOPE scholarship information, Dual Enrollment, SAT and ACT preparation and many other items! We hope to see you there!
SPRING DUAL ENROLLMENT REGISTRATION
Georgia State University, University of North Georgia, and Lanier Tech will be at Lambert High School to register CURRENT Dual Enrollment students for the Spring 2025 semester on Thursday, November 7th in the Media Center. Students must sign-up in advance. The appointments are 10 minutes long, so students will return to class immediately after their appointment.
Stay up to date with announcements, events and information!
THANK YOU VETERANS
In honor of Veterans Day on November 11, we would like to express our sincere thanks to veterans in our Lambert Community. We are so grateful for your service to our country. We honor your courage and all you have done to protect our freedoms. Thank you, sincerely!
We are also honored to celebrate the following Longhorns on our LHS Staff who have bravely served:
- Scott Carlson - U.S. Navy
- Todd Douglas - U.S. Army
- Ed Gray - National Guard
- John McCormick - U.S. Marines
- Steve Moran - U.S. Air Force
OUT OF DISTRICT INFORMATION
If you are considering applying for an Out of District (OOD) application for your Rising 9th grader to attend high school at a location other than the one you are districted for, please be sure to thoroughly read the rules and guidelines outlined on the FCS website HERE.
OOD Requests will be marked ineligible if you request a pathway offered at your districted school. For instance, the Healthcare Cluster is now offered at all high schools with the exception of East Forsyth High School. So, a request, for example, to out-of-district from Denmark High School to Lambert High School for the Healthcare Pathway is an ineligible request. Also, computer science is not a pathway and cannot be a reason for an out-of-district request. For a list of CTAE Pathway Availability at each school, please click HERE.
Finally, due to a limited availability of seats for programs that are unique to a particular school (i.e. the Food & Nutrition program at Lambert and the Culinary Arts program at South) lotteries will be held at the closing of the Out of District request window. Thus, do not expect word of your approval or denial until November 29, when the window closes, and be sure to get your request in by November 28 to be a part of the lottery.
You are highly encouraged to attend the Programs and Pathways Nights offered at each high school that you are considering submitting an OOD Request to. Click HERE for more information.
Once you have consulted all of the linked resources, if you still have questions, please direct them to the high school you are interested in attending. Please be aware that the portal closes Monday, November 30.
MIDTERMS - PLAN ACCORDINGLY
We highly encourage our families NOT to plan trips on midterm exam dates. Midterms cannot be administered early, and making them up after the long break does not set students up for optimal success. Thank you in advance for planning accordingly.
- Tuesday, December 17 - 8th Period Exam
- Wednesday, December 18 - 1st & 2nd Periods Exams
- Thursday, December 19 - 3rd & 4th Period Exams
- Friday, December 20 - 5th, 6th & 7th Period Exams
