Community Update from Principal Griffin
Dear Erie High School families,
It has been another great week at Erie High School. Our students have brought great energy and engagement to our school and it is exciting to see their commitment to learning and growth each day. Our fall sports are now in full swing, and our performing arts students are hard at work preparing for the 2024 fall production of Our Town.
You can view this week’s Principal’s Update here.
As we continue through the early stages of the 2024-2025 school year, we have a lot to celebrate from last year. I am thrilled to share that the Erie High School Class of 2024 earned a 99.1% on-time graduation rate. As the largest class in Erie High School history, 442 members strong, it was incredible to see such a high percentage of students walk across the graduation stage on May 25th. It is even more impressive to see this graduation rate given that St. Vrain Valley Schools maintain the highest, most rigorous graduation requirements of any school district in the metropolitan area at 24.5 required credits. This level of student achievement is only possible with the robust support, guidance, and mentorship of our faculty, staff, parents, guardians and families.
Additionally, I am excited to share that EHS students earned a 78% pass rate across all AP tests in the May 2024 administration. This pass rate is up from 68%-69% rates earned in the previous five years, all while the number of students and the number of tests continues to grow over time. This high level of achievement equates to 2,535 college credits, potentially saving their families $1,209,195 in college tuition. This is an impressively high level of academic achievement for our students as they are our testament to our community’s commitment to helping students thrive.
Throughout the course of last year, we saw consistent improvement across 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students in the SAT / PSAT assessments. We will continue to share more information about student achievement in these important assessments as we proceed through the year, and in particular as we prepare for the October 2024 administration.
I am grateful to our students for their dedication to following our school norms, routines, and expectations. We have seen an overall improvement in attendance to start the new school year - thank you for your continued partnership in encouraging your child to consistently attend and engage in school. Please continue to support your child(ren) with their morning plans to ensure on-time arrival to start the school day. We have seen an increase in 1st block tardies in the past week.
SVVSD Parade of Public Education
On Saturday, September 7th, the Erie Feeder and Erie High School are excited to participate in the 2024 Parade for Public Education on Main Street in Longmont. The parade will begin at 10:00 am, and has been organized to highlight and uplift the great work of all students in our SVVSD schools. Representing Erie, we will have the EHS Marching Band, Cheer, and Dance teams, and in the Erie Feeder, we will have students representing the elementary, middle, and high school levels in Robotics, Student Leadership groups, and school athletic programs. We look forward to seeing a great turnout for this outstanding community event!
Upcoming Superintendent’s Town Hall at Erie High School
On Tuesday, September 10th, we are excited to host Dr. Haddad, our SVVSD Superintendent, for his annual Town Hall meeting at Erie High School. This is a great opportunity for members of the Erie High School community to hear directly from Dr. Haddad regarding highlights and celebrations, vision, and plans for our school district this year and beyond. I encourage interested community members to attend this important event.
Homecoming Week
We will be hosting the 2024 Homecoming Week from September 16-20. This year, Homecoming Week will start with the Homecoming Kick-Off on Monday, September 16th starting at 5:30 pm. Our athletic teams, co-curricular clubs, and other student groups will host a carnival-like event on the practice field to the west of Tiger Stadium. We will have entertainment and food trucks, and at 7:45 pm, we are thrilled to host the SVVSD student drone team for a live drone show at Erie High School. This is sure to be a fun event for students, staff, and families. We will share additional details about Homecoming Week as we get closer to the event. Students can purchase their Homecoming Dance tickets now at this link.
This is an exciting time in our school year, and I look forward to celebrating these important events with our community over the upcoming week. I hope you and your family have a great Labor Day weekend!
Sincerely,
Josh Griffin
Erie High School Principal
Code of Conduct (Guardian Signature Required!)
Thank you for your partnership and supporting the academic growth, safety, and well-being of our students. Every year, St. Vrain Valley Schools prints an up-to-date version of the Code of Conduct for students and families to review. This important document guides students and school staff on what expectations for school conduct and the consequences for behaviors that fall outside of those expectations. It is important that families review this information every year and acknowledge their receipt and understanding of this document.
To this end, please click here to access an electronic version of the Code of Conduct for the current school year. After you have reviewed this information, all families must sign an electronic acknowledgement that they have received, read, and understand the information contained, including the Annual Notification to Parents/Guardians; Behavioral Code of Conduct; Rights and Responsibilities of Students and Parents; and Board of Education Policies book. To sign your electronic acknowledgement, please follow the steps described here.
Again, thank you for your continued partnership and support. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our administrative team.
Parking Passes
Erie High School is working to create a safe parking lot for staff and students. We need to have all students (even if you have a previous pass) that are parking in the parking lot obtain a new parking pass. They have changed this year! We are asking each student to fill out the form to register, then stop by the campus supervisor desk to pay the $5 fee and pick up the pass. Please place the pass in the lower left hand corner of the interior windshield.
Campus supervisors will be monitoring the lot and placing warnings on cars beginning 9/3/24.
Performing Arts & Music Industry College Information Night
Discover your path to a future in performing arts and music! The Innovation Center is hosting this district-wide event for all interested St. Vrain families on September 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Families will learn about degree options in the performing arts, application processes, and more from representatives of top universities. Click here to learn more.
Student attendance – more than a test score or any other data point – is one of the most accurate indicators of whether a student will graduate and find success after high school. It is critical for students to attend school daily in order to acquire the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to be college and career-ready. You can always check your student’s attendance in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Please remember to always call in your student’s absences within 48 hours to 303-828-4213. You can also email attendance at ErieHS@svvsd.org.
If your student is a freshmen (or non-driving sophomore) we kindly ask that you check them in and out in person with the front office.
Student Government

Tiger Packs
Does Your Erie Student Qualify for Free/Reduced Lunch at School?
If so, they are eligible for Erie UpLink’s Tiger Packs program. Tiger Packs contain kid-friendly, nonperishable food items and are delivered to the students’ doorsteps once per month on the Wednesday prior to school breaks to help bridge the food gap for those kids who normally receive free breakfast and lunch at school. Parents can sign up online at: https://www.erieuplink.org/tiger-pack-registration
*Registration must be resubmitted each school year
iPad Updates
Families of 9th and 10th Graders
Thank you for partnering with us as we ensure students are using their iPads to attend and engage in class. 9th and 10th graders are on Level 1 restrictions and non-school related apps were removed during study hall. Please check with your student that there is nothing else on their iPad and discuss with them the importance of using their iPad appropriately during school. Please reach out if you need any support from us.
All Families
Insurance for the iPad needs to be purchased by September 15th. This can be done through Fees on Infinite Campus. We strongly recommend insurance to cover a variety of accidents. Please review the FAQ’s about iPads for more information.
