Please join us for the parent presentation Tuesday, November 19th, from 6-630pm. At 6:30, we will move directly into a senior parent session, sharing key senior year dates and graduation information. We plan to wrap up at 7pm that evening.

In addition, there has been a change in procedure for opting out of CSHE (Comprehensive Sexual Health Education), with a deadline to submit the form. Please click here to view directions on how to opt out, and submit before the end of the day tomorrow (November 13th). Thank you!

Abigail Hertner, a fellow BG graduate Class of 2023, is attending WSU Vancouver to pursue a Business Degree. She is currently an Assistant Manager at Maurice's at the Vancouver Mall location.

Abigail made a clothing donation on behalf of Maurice's. The retail stores are discontinuing the "Evsie" girls clothing line. Instead of shipping the clothing items back to headquarters, Abby asked the district manager if she could donate the items to the Battle Ground Family Resource Center. There were an estimated 500 items of clothing, jewelry, hats, scarfs and flip flops that were donated.

Calling all Tigers... Do you love the outdoors? Do you exhibit Unity Toughness and Class? Would you like the opportunity to grow as a leader and mentor? Are you ready to lead 6th-grade students at a week-long Outdoor School?

We are looking for 20 outstanding High School students to serve as Outdoor School Counselors at Chief Umtuch’s 4-day 3-night Outdoor School field trip to Cispus Learning Center on March 25th-28th, 2025. This is the week before Spring Break.

The 2025 General George C. Marshall Leadership Awards nominations are open until December 2!

We are pleased to continue this 36-year tradition of recognizing and celebrating Clark County’s young people who are actively creating community impact through strength of character and commitment to public service.

We’re looking for high school seniors and young adults (under age 35) who embody General Marshall's values of integrity, candor, courage, and preparedness in their commitment to serving the greater good. They’re showing up to lead and are actively serving the community – they may be doing it quietly or boldly, but in either case, we want to hear their stories. This is where you come in.

Please submit a nomination HERE for a young person who has impressed you with their leadership. Consider the positive impact a nomination will have – it lets them know that you see them, and is a powerful acknowledgement of their efforts. Candidates must be nominated by December 2, 2024 to be considered. After nominations close, all nominees will be invited to submit an application, and will also be invited to attend a free Marshall Leadership Workshop in January.

-35 years of age or younger

-Public visibility for the award recipient’s employer or nominating organization

-Demonstrates leadership ability and a commitment to serving a greater good

-Serves as a role model, motivating others to become involved

Please note, there is no minimum GPA requirement as it is not a factor in the evaluation process.

Youth Award recipient will receive:

-$4,000 Aléna K. Jarvis Memorial Scholarship

-Opportunities to develop professional relationships with community leaders

-Public visibility for the award recipient and their nominating school or organization

Five youth finalists will each receive a $1,000 scholarship provided by the Klinge/Meyer Family Fund of the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington.

Hello Partners,

The WYCA continues to seek out youth who are interested in applying for the January 13th class. We still have lots of space for both males and females. 165 youth are accepted each class cycle, 110 males and 55 females. Admission to the program starts with completing an application.

Admission Process: Apply and finish the application. Applications must be completed to move to the next step. Attend Interview Day . Youth must be interviewed to be selected for the class. These interviews are by invitation only. Bremerton Interview Days are November 19th, January 6-7 and interviews for Eastern WA youth will be held in Ephrata on 12/19-20

The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a standardized test used to determine qualification for enlistment in the United States Armed Forces.

We invite all juniors and seniors to sign up for the ASVAB test. Scoring well on the Armed Forces Qualification Test (AFQT) portion can serve as an alternate graduation pathway for students who haven’t taken or passed the required Smarter Balanced Assessment.

The ASVAB test will be on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 9 AM - 12 PM in the College & Career Center. Register by November 12.

The Cascadia Tech Academy presentation at Battle Ground High School will be on November 12 from 9:45 am to 10:15 am in the College and Career Center. All sophomores and juniors are welcome to attend.

CTA Tour

Battle Ground High School students will tour Cascadia Tech Academy on January 14, 2025, from 8:00 am - 10:30 am. To attend the tour students must sign up in the College and Career Center by December 20, 2024, and complete the field trip permission documentation.

Application Process

The Cascadia Tech Applications (paper form) will be available in the College and Career Center on January 15, 2025. Completed applications must be received by January 31, 2025. This is a quick turnaround time. Don’t procrastinate. The application process does not guarantee placement into Cascadia Tech Academy.

It’s time to get started on the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) processes.

One of the first steps is creating an FSA ID, which is necessary for signing and submitting the FAFSA online. Both students and one parent or guardian will need to create their own FSA IDs. This ID is crucial as it serves as your legal signature and provides access to your federal student aid information.

Join us on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 3 pm to 6 pm at Battle Ground High School College and Career Center for the FSA ID Workshop. To complete the FSA ID, you will need your social security number and personal email.

The sooner you complete this step, the sooner you can complete your FAFSA or WASFA in December.

November is officially the start of winter weather season in southwest Washington. That means there is always the chance that snow or hazardous road conditions could delay or cancel school. Here are some tips on how you can be prepared:

• Confirm whether your child’s school(s) are in the north or south part of the district.

• Make sure your primary phone number and email address are correct in Skyward - Family Access.

• Download the Battle Ground Public Schools app on the Apple App Store or Google Play and allow push notifications.

• Follow Battle Ground Public Schools on Facebook or Instagram.

On weather-impacted days, calls may begin going out as early as 5:30 a.m. You can also call our information line at 360-885-5343 to check after 5:30 a.m.

If you see or hear of a possible threat, please report it to law enforcement directly and/or to school staff. This is the best and most helpful action because it begins an investigation and helps to limit the potential for misinformation to spread.

Reposting or sharing a threat on social media in an attempt to warn others spreads the threat farther from its original source and may cause unnecessary alarm and fear.

You can report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Emergencies should always be reported to 911.

If you recently received an email or letter regarding your child’s immunization status, please contact their school as soon as possible. Starting Friday, Nov. 15, students must have all of the legally required immunizations or an approved exemption from the immunization requirements to continue attending school.

In recent weeks, Battle Ground Public Schools has experienced chickenpox cases at several buildings. When this happens, Clark County Public Health may direct students who do not have documented immunization to stay home for 21 days to reduce the chance of the disease spreading further. A student may be able to return to school sooner with documented proof of immunity. If you have questions about your child’s chickenpox immunization status, please reach out to their school nurse.
