YOUR MONEY AT WORK– 7th Grade Explores OMSI's King Tut Exhibit
Students and chaperones braved the MAX and headed to OMSI this January for a fun-filled day of science exhibits, OMSI's current Egyptian history exhibit, and a documentary at OMSI's Empirical Theater. These exhibition fit in nicely with the 7th grade ancient civilizations unit.
Massive thanks to all who donated to our 5K effort that made this opportunity possible. Another shout out is due to the over 50 community volunteers that turned out to chaperone our angelic minions.

College Pennants Grace CPMS Halls Courtesy of Ms. Trisha Parks
8th grade Humanities teacher, Trisha Parks, has been diligently sprucing up our schools hallways with college pennants from colleges within Oregon and neighboring states. Post high school success is the overall goal for the Beaverton School District. Students are engaged and curious about the various post-secondary education options available to them.
Ms. Parks has organized most of the pennants by state, creating excellent displays throughout our halls. THANK YOU, Ms. Parks, for keeping Cedar Park awesome!

OBOB & Book Fair Headed to CPMS this February
Also, the Scholastic Book Fair will be back at the end of February. These book fairs are an excellent and easy way to not only put quality books into our child's hands (and off Fortnite & Instagram), but helps fund additional library purchases to update our collection. Be on the lookout for more information, as well as volunteer sign-ups coming soon.
Rotating Library Displays Showcase Relevant Topics
Her current display is a tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., which will remain on display through the end of February. The display is accompanied with books and information about the civil rights movement and Black History Month.
THANK YOU, Ms. Hernandez, for creating beautiful and rich spaces for our students to learn.
SAVE THE DATE-- Student Socials on 2/15

Used Board Games Not Sparking Joy? Donate to CPMS!
CPMS dedicates one advisory period each month specifically to connect with kids, and board games are an excellent way to make that happen.
This winter, Cedar Park is asking you to clean out your hall closets and search your basements for family friendly games to donate to CPMS. Think Jenga, Operation, Uno, Sorry - you know, the classic games you remember playing as a kid.
Please donate your gently used or new games to our front office; we'll make sure they all get a home. Don't forget to ask your students about game days in Advisory!
DATE CHANGE! February PTC Community Meeting Scheduled for Monday, 2/11
Meeting starts at 7pm in the CPMS Media Center (library). Questions can be sent to Jana Drotzmann, PTC President.
Cedar Park Onstage Presents One-Act Festival this February
Oz
Reeling from her sister's death, Beth suddenly finds herself journeying through a world suspiciously resembling the film The Wizard of Oz. But with the yellow brick road sold to foreign investors after a financial meltdown, the Scarecrow reveling in his ignorant bliss, the Cowardly Lion acting like a paranoid sociopath, and the Tin Man embracing his emotional numbness, Beth wonders what role she plays in this classic story gone awry. A hilarious and heart-wrenching exploration of grief and perseverance on the road to acceptance (via playscripts.com).
The Firecracker Incident
Fourteen-year-old Joe's parents are pretty tough. First, they moved his bedroom into his little sister's closet. Then they took away his door. And then, after he just "happened" to tie one of her Barbie dolls to black cat firecrackers and exploded them in the backyard, they grounded him for the entire summer. But when his only friend breaks him out in the middle of the night, he embarks on the adventure of a lifetime, which may mean the difference between life and death (via dramaticpublishing.com).

We invite you to support us or join our team and help the Portland Polar Plunge reach its goal.
It’s a chilly job but someone has to do it!

The students plan to use these funds to promote respect and inclusivity at Cedar Park!!!
