Join us for our Community of Practice Series!
SST 13’s Special Education Community of Practice (CoP) Series This Community of Practice (CoP) session is designed to bring together a group of professionals (e.g., administrators, related service providers, intervention specialists, general educators, paraprofessional etc.), who share a common concern in the advancement of education of all student learners, especially those with diverse needs. This CoP series will focus on sharing best practices, creating & expanding knowledge & skills to advance professional practice across a variety of areas (progress monitoring, general educator’s role in the ETR/IEP process, post-secondary transition, AASCD, family & community engagement, etc.). All sessions are free and open to all districts.
During these sessions we will provide best practices, share resources and examples and ask you to share the great things happening in your district.
Session Descriptions with Dates and Times
Session 1: Coaching through Progress Monitoring
This session provide examples of best practices for progress monitoring. We will assist districts in developing progress monitoring systems (both for remote and in person learning) and using data optimally to monitor progress and make educational decisions.

Session 2: Coaching teacher's through the educator role in the evaluation Process- especially during COVID 19
This session will assist teachers (general ed. and special education) in understanding their critical role in providing academic, behavioral, and social emotional information on the student's performance to assist with decision making.

Session 3: Coaching teacher's through the educator role on the IEP process- accommodations and modifications especially during the COVID-19 Pandemic
This session will assist general education teachers in understanding their critical role in implementing and supporting the IEP; accommodations, modifications, and progress monitoring.

Session 4 Coaching schools through the AASCD decision process
This session will assist districts in learning how to complete and apply the resources for IEP teams to make optimal decisions around students with significant cognitive disabilities taking the alternative assessment.

Session 5: Coaching for transition planning
This session will provide support and ideas for teachers working with students age 14 and older in transition and post secondary planning. We will explore ideas for teachers both virtually and in person to help create meaningful transition plans.

Session 6: Coaching around Early Childhood Regulations
This session will support districts and school in adhering to special education rules and regulations in the area of early childhood. We will explore the differences between school-age and preschool ETRs/IEPs; required assessments; transitioning from Part C to Part B; and the eligibility category of Developmental Disability.

Session 7: Coaching up community engagement in a virtual climate
This session will help districts and schools in ensuring and building their community engagement with parents and families. This session will provide examples, ideas and frameworks that have shown to to increase family engagement.
