LPS Tiger Talk
September 5, 2024
Message From The Principal
Dear LPS Families,
We are continuing to work through our beginning of the year assessments and will move into additional benchmark, early literacy measures next week (aimsweb+). This assessment data allows us to better understand our students and meet their needs. Teachers will use this data to create personalized learning paths for their students and apply intervention and enrichment where needed. Our benchmark assessments are a critical component to having a comprehensive academic program for our school.
We have also spent time as a staff with our Tigers on school safety. As shared at our Parent Information Nights, school safety is our number 1 priority. As a campus (LPS & LES), we've practiced 2 evacuation drills in conjunction with the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department (LSFD). LSFD, along with Officer Asbury, observed both drills to examine our updated protocols and efficiencies. We are very happy with the drills and how staff and students responded.
I am pleased with how quickly our students and teachers have created a positive learning community. It's going to be an amazing school year! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to welcoming our Tigers back on Monday.
Sincerely,
Kevin Fancher

Counselor's Corner ~ A Note From Mrs. Chandler
Mrs. Chandler and Mrs. Osborn (Speech/Language Pathologist) will be visiting all classrooms through the month of September to teach about Social Thinking with 1st and 2nd graders. Social Thinking is one aspect of our social emotional learning curriculum that we address here at LPS. These lessons focus on showing positive behaviors, being confident in their interactions with others and being problem solvers. We focused on whole body listening this past week. Please see the attachment below for more information on these lessons. We encourage you to talk with your child about what they are learning! If you have any questions you can contact Darcie Chandler at chandlda@lovelandschools.org.
A New Addition To LPS!
We are excited to announce that we will be welcoming a Canine Good Citizen dog to LPS! Sunny lives right here in Loveland and is a trained therapy dog. Along with the required training and testing, Sunny has completed a year’s worth of school visits across the Cincinnati area. She loves children and has a very sweet, gentle temperament. We hope to introduce Sunny to our Tiger Cubs in smaller group settings once or twice a month in the near future. Mrs. Chandler will be working with Lisa Sasson who is the dog handler and will talk about Sunny and the purpose of a therapy dog to the students. We recognize that there may be some allergies and scared students, so this will be totally optional. We look forward to this new addition to our school over the next several months. Please reach out to Darcie Chandler (School Counselor) at chandlda@lovelandschools.org if you have any questions or concerns. If you have a child that is allergic or scared of dogs please also reach out to your teacher and let them know via email or seesaw.
Growing With The Loveland Learning Garden
Sign up now for our after school program "Outdoor Adventures" starting September 24th. Let your 1st and 2nd graders come experience the outdoors with us as we explore our fall schoolyard garden and nature trail. Each week will offer a different activity where we will investigate what's happening in nature. Go on a trail hike, search for spider webs or birds, see the end of the plant life cycle and collect seeds, create with natural materials, use your senses to observe changes in the fall forest, try a magnifying glass or binoculars, and more. Funds raised support our nonprofit and LEPTA. Register by Sept 9th: REGISTER for OUTDOOR ADVENTURES
Loveland Learning Garden is a volunteer-run nonprofit which funds and maintains a garden and nature trail on school grounds to connect kids to nature through school day, after school and summer programs.
