Toros Triumph as Scholars, Leaders and Champions!
Dear Toro Families,
Here at Yorba, we are very mindful about the short amount of time we have your students with us--2 years goes by fast! This is why we are committed to building a culture of connection and belonging. Our Toros deserve to be learning at high levels, and have vast experiences that keep them feeling welcome and valued at school!
Last week we celebrated Red Ribbon Week with Spirit Days and ended with some great lunchtime activities on Friday. Its so rewarding to see students participate and enjoy being a part of the fun!
Next week, we look forward to the Halloween Maze on 10/30 from 3-5pm. There will be plenty of snacks, drinks and items sold! On 11/1 we will celebrate Dia De Los Muertos with a school Ofrenda-students are able to bring pictures of loved ones to display.
Students may dress up for Halloween this year--please see guidelines below. Any student not following these guidelines will be asked to change into PE clothes.
The LCAP Survey will begin on 10/28. This annual survey is how we continue to be the best school for your students. Your feedback matters to us! If you'd like help or support completing this survey, please stop by one of our offices and we can do it together!
With Toro Tenacity,
Dr. Mónica Luther
Principal
Yorba Middle School

Halloween Dress Up Guidance
1. School-Appropriate Costumes
- Costumes should be in line with the school's dress code. Avoid outfits that are overly revealing, too tight, or too short. School Dress-code will still apply.
- Students should avoid costumes that could disrupt the learning environment.
2. No Masks or Full Face Paint
- To ensure safety and easy identification, students should refrain from wearing full-face masks or complete face paint. Minimal makeup is fine but should not obscure the face.
3. Culturally Respectful Choices
- Encourage students to choose costumes that are creative and inclusive without appropriating or misrepresenting any culture or identity.
4. Weapons and Props
- No props that resemble weapons (e.g., swords, knives, guns) will be allowed.
5. Avoid Gruesome or Violent Themes
- Outfits should be fun and age-appropriate, avoiding themes that are overly scary, gory, or violent, which may make others uncomfortable. No fake blood or wounds.
6. Footwear
- Students should wear comfortable, safe shoes that allow them to move around campus safely. No high heels or flip-flops, as these may be unsafe for walking and school activities.
7. Classroom Compatibility
- Remind students that costumes should allow them to participate in regular school activities without causing distractions.
8. Encourage Creative, DIY, and Positive Costumes
- For those who choose to dress up, encourage costumes that are creative, funny, or celebrate positive characters and ideas. This approach helps foster a lighthearted and supportive environment.
All costumes appropriateness is at the discretion of school administration.
