Principals' Message
Happy Valentine’s Day and Random Act of Kindness week! Students were immersed in kindness activities this week with a different "station" set up each morning in the lobby during student arrival.
Monday was a 'kindness wheel' activity where students identified ways to show kindness to others.
Tuesday was a very popular "photo booth" in the lobby (enjoy some photos below).
Wednesday, students and staff watercolored hearts on squares which were assembled into three mosaics and will be delivered to the shelter at the Armory later today.
Friday, students were invited to state positive self-affirmations in a mirror set up in the lobby, and also wrote positive messages of kindness and gratitude to teachers, staff and other important adults.
Thank you for the love you show students and staff each day!
In other news, earlier this week, Nurse Conyers received a telephone call at work from the President of the National Board for Certification of School Nurses (NBCSN)...congratulating her as the winner of the "National Board Certified School Nurse 2025 Recognition Award" !!! This Award is given annually to one school nurse nationwide, recognizing their incredible contribution to supporting school nurse excellence by encouraging National Certification. Congratulations Nurse Conyers!!
We have rescheduled our Budget Q&A session for Monday 2/17 at 5pm. Chris and Sarah will be sharing a brief presentation about the impacts of the budget specific to BPS. These impacts include:
Nursing reduction
Classroom Teacher reductions
No Eagle Academy summer 2025
There will be a modified ESY schedule (only for students who qualify).
We are hoping to record the session and will share it out on Tuesday. We are also hoping to provide childcare in The Children’s Room. If you have any questions about/before the event and/or would need childcare, please complete the brief survey here:

Have Extra Sneakers? We Could Use Them!
At our school, we are fortunate to have a small collection of sneakers available for students who may forget to bring theirs to school. Many of our students rely on this resource, and we have noticed that it would be helpful to have more pairs on hand.
If your child has outgrown any sneakers and they’re still in good condition, we would greatly appreciate any donations! These donations will be used to ensure that every student has access to a pair of sneakers when needed.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support! Every little bit helps, and your donations make a big difference in our school school community.

Sleepy Hollow 2025 Summer Camp Programs!
Baseball and softball registration is open for the Spring 2025 season!
Register at: www.clydewhittemorelittleleague.com
Clyde Whittemore Little League provides programs for kids ages 4-12, from T-ball all the way up to the major league level. While many families are generally familiar with our baseball program, our softball offerings for girls are less well known. For that reason, I want to take a minute to highlight our softball programs here! There are three levels this year serving girls ages 6-12 years old. If you would like to discuss which level would be best for your player, please don't hesitate to reach out to Coach Kristin at kbrynga@gmail.com.
Coach/Machine Pitch -
This level is an introduction to softball and is primarily for players 6-8 years old. As its name implies, coaches will be pitching to players at this level with modified game rules to maximize player participation and opportunities for growth. Teams will have one practice and one game weekly.
Minor League-
This level is primarily for players ages 8-10 who are still in the early stages of learning the game of softball. Players have the opportunity to pitch with modified rules (i.e. no stealing bases, limited walks, maximum number of runs per inning. etc) to keep the game moving. The minor league level is less competitive than the major league program. Players will be on the field 3 days a week with a combination of games and practices.
Major League-
This level is primarily for players ages 10-12 who have played at least one season of minor league softball. At this level players pitch with increasing speed and full game rules are in force. This is our most competitive level of softball play. Players will be on the field 3 days a week with a combination of games and practices.
Please note that we will begin our optional spring training sessions on Saturdays beginning March 8th. Your player must be registered prior to attending spring training. Outdoor practices and games will begin after May 1st. Scholarships are available for those who need financial assistance.
Girls On The Run
Brookside Primary School families and friends, we are gearing up for another empowering and fun spring season of Girls on the Run! Navigating through tough times takes perseverance. This season's curriculum inspires all participants to say “I can!” to every obstacle that comes their way. Participants will build confidence to overcome difficult situations, inspire others to keep going when it’s hard, and embrace their confidence to make a difference in their community.
Our season starts the week of March 17th and culminates May 31st in a noncompetitive, celebratory 5K event. Teams meet twice a week for 90 minutes each session for 10 weeks. Girls on the Run is open to girls in grades 3-5. If your child is interested in participating this spring, please complete GOTRVT's Participant Interest Form ahead of registration opening in February. To learn more about these programs, check out gotrvt.org/programs. Have further questions? Contact GOTRVT at anne@girlsontherunvermont.org or 802-871-5664.
