Patrick also completed courses in our CTE program and is leaving Insight PA with an Industry Certification in Python Programming. This year, Patrick completed the Bloomsberg Arts Internship where he got to work in the Academy of Natural Sciences department at Drexel University. Next year, Patrick plans to further his education at Penn State University where he will be studying Biological Science.
Juliana Wu, Salutatorian
Juliana has taken the most rigorous and challenging courses here at Insight PA. Through courses taken in our CTE program, Juliana was able to earn an industry certification in CPR. She plans to further her education next year at Long Island University in Brooklyn New York, where she has been awarded a 4-year scholarship worth $30,000 per year to pursue her dream of becoming a Pharmacist.
President's Scholarship Award
Congratulations to Insight PA Senior, Uriel Madiare Soukhona on being selected to receive this year's President's Scholarship Award from our Board of Trustees! Uriel was one of 20 graduating seniors who submitted an essay to be considered for this $1,000 award. She will be speaking at our Class of 2024 graduation ceremony this weekend in Millersville and plans to enroll in Community College and pursue her passion in real estate while continuing her modeling career.
Uriel had this to say about her time at Insight PA -
"Due to the unwavering support of both my school and my family, I am happy to graduate high
school today with honors. Such a notable honor has made me self-reflect on this high school
experience. It truly resonates with the phrase that my family has frequently shared, “It takes a village to raise a child.” My village included my family and the teachers and staff at Insight PA."
Keynote Speaker - Dr. Jalaal Hayes
Dr. Hayes is a native of North Philadelphia who attended The Ivy Leaf School, Pratt Arnold Elementary School, People for People Charter School, Conwell Middle Magnet School, and High School of Engineering and Science before graduating from Northeast Preparatory School at the age of 15. He graduated from Lincoln University in three years with degrees in General Science and History and was noted as the youngest ever Lincoln University graduate with dual degrees at the age of 18. Upon completing his doctoral degree at Delaware State University, Dr. Hayes accepted an appointment as an educator in Philadelphia to advance his personal mission on making science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) simple through teaching.
Dr. Hayes is an award-winning STEM speaker and entrepreneur that helps students and educators to engage in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) with the integration of the arts (STEAM) disciplines through workshops and other forms of professional development in emerging STEM industries. We are excited to welcome him and hear the message he has to share with our graduates!

Looking Ahead - Exciting Updates for 24-25
In our last newsletter, we shared information about some new platforms that we will be implementing for the 2024 - 2025 school year, including a new communications platform called ParentSquare, a new virtual class platform (called Class), and the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you missed our last newsletter, visit this link to read more about our plans for next year!
Throughout the summer, we will be sharing additional information about these platforms to help prepare our students and their families for the upcoming school year. In the meantime, we invite you to watch the short video below about ParentSquare, as well as read some of the feedback from our teachers who have been piloting the new Class platform.
ParentSquare Overview
Please note that some features mentioned in this video will not be available until later in the 24-25 school year!
Class Pilot Feedback
Here are some of the positive things our teachers had to share about their experiences piloting the new Class platform that we will be using next year -
"I really liked the proctor view. I've been using it a lot to see where the students are at, see what they're doing, and help them troubleshoot. It's been really great being able to communicate with students while they are in breakout rooms."
"The students love being able to see each other and that they can all be on the mic at once. Cameras are much clearer and aren't lagging as much. I also feel more comfortable putting them in breakout rooms."
"I was really excited about all the different tools and reactions available to the students and about having access to Schoology and Nearpod right in the Class platform."
"I love the privacy mode that allows students to turn their cameras on and only have the teacher see them (not the other students)."
"I love that I can see the chat better and "pop it out" to keep better track of it."
