Jag News
Week of 9/2 - 6, 2024-25
Message from the Principal
Hopefully everyone had a relaxing 3 day weekend as we start week 4 now! The first Progress Reports will be available in your Family Access portal by Thursday. The past few weeks our assistant principals were visiting classrooms to talk to all students about some rules and expectations at CTJ and NEISD. A separate email went to parents & guardians last week with all the information shared.
Please save the date of Tuesday, 9/17/24, for our Meet the Teacher Open House PTSA Greenback night! There will be a PTSA General meeting at 6 pm and the Open House will start about 6:30 pm.
Please remember to be courteous and patient while dropping off and picking up your child at school. The majority are doing so and we understand that sometimes some people take shortcuts. Please be patient with all for the safety of our kids. Thank you!
For all Jags in 2024-25, be sure read all of the information below and continue to check your NEISD email periodically for information about the start of school and other events to start the year.
Sincerely,
Gary Comalander - Principal

Do Not Pick up in neighboring subdivisions
Please do not use the entrance across from the TPC exit on Ellis Park, Cliffs of Cibolo subdivision, to pick-up and wait for students. This is not a safe place for kids to be getting picked up in the entrance of a neighborhood.
There are No Parking signs posted and SAPD has told the school that they will be patrolling and not giving warnings to those parked in the entrance.
Please do not use the entrance to the Fire Station on Bulverde Road or the subdivision just south of the fire station at Regal Park Drive, Encino Ranch subdivision, to pick-up and wait for students. This is not a safe place for kids to be picked up and traffic exiting the entrance of this neighborhood.
Both HOA's have been advised to contact law enforcement to enforce staying out of the neighborhood entrances. It is not safe to use these areas with kids moving around in the streets to meet parents
We realize the time for going through the pick-up line does take a while but we need everyone to be safe in the afternoons. Please do not use this area or any neighborhood entrance for picking up students. We appreciate all of your help in keeping all the students safe.

District Connected Classroom chromebooks
Parents & Guardians,
Reminder that the District does have chromebooks available for any secondary student needing access to a chromebook at home. Please read the information on the District webpage regarding the Student Lending agreement and Insurance Policy needed.
https://www.neisd.net/connectedclassroom
Everyone should have received an 'optional' School Cash Online email today about the Chromebook Insurance Policy and you should see the Technology Lending agreement in your Family Access portal. These are optional and only filled out if you are wanting to have access to a chromebook at home. Please use the first 3 weeks of school to determine your student's needs and whether they need access to a chromebook lending device. If so, both the Student Lending agreement and Insurance Policy must be completed before receiving a chromebook.

CTJ/NEISD Discipline: E-cigarettes & Vaping
HB 114, requires a student to be removed from class/school and placed in a Disciplinary Alternative Education Program (DAEP) for possessing, using, selling, giving, or delivering to another person an e-cigarette/vaping device.
This law includes nicotine vape pens or any components of a vaping device.
Nothing is changing with regards to the law and consequences on when a device tests positive for THC. For THC, the 1st offense is a longer recommendation to DAEP and a 2nd offense for THC can be a recommendation of Expulsion from NEISD.
