A Note From the Principal
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! We are so excited for your students to be Munson Hilltoppers. All of our teachers and staff are ready to help your students have a fantastic year of learning.
- A lot of hard work happened at Munson this summer, including new Promethean boards added to every classroom, brickwork repairs on the building, and (still in-progress) a brand new Munson School bell enclosure! You will hear a LOT more about the bell (and what we found inside!!!) in the coming weeks.
- When you enter our building, you'll notice some big changes there, too. We now have a security vestibule in the front entrance. We are happy to have this added security! No visitors may enter the building without checking in at the kiosk in the front vestibule, and then going straight to the office.
- The bell rings to begin the day at 9:20am; students are late at 9:20:01 and must be brought to the front entrance by a parent or guardian. To check your student in , you will enter the security vestibule and fill out the Late Student Sign In Sheet on the clipboard. It will ask you for your student's name, the time in, the reason for tardiness, and whether they need a hot lunch. Then push the call button, and the office will let your student in the building.
- All students now have recess before lunch! So far, we are already noticing a big improvement in how much students are eating, cafeteria behavior, and focus in the classroom!
- Please be sure to attend the Munson Parent Orientation on August 22 at 6pm. You will be able to hear from your child's teacher and find out all about our procedures, expectations, and much more.
- Finally, Munson is currently hiring for 3 positions - cafeteria cashier, cafeteria monitor, and recess monitor! Please visit the Chardon Schools Employment website for more details and to apply!
Thanks for helping us to have a great first week at Munson!
Sincerely, Mr. Prezioso

Clinic Corner
Hello and welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
We are so excited and fortunate to take care of your children at Munson this school year. Please remember, we value our relationships with our parents and consider our relationship a partnership. Please include us, when appropriate, on medical and health communication. For example, if you send your teacher a message (email, Dojo, etc.) regarding medical information, it is best to include us to keep us in the loop on medical/health concerns regarding your child.
Below are a few important items to review:
1. Immunizations are required in the school setting. Immunization information from your health care provider needs to be sent to us and available before 8/28/24 in order to avoid exclusion from school. Please call with questions regarding this, and thank you to all who have already sent us this information!
2. Vision and hearing screenings will be conducted in the near future. If your child saw an eye doctor over the summer, he/she does not need to be screened again. Please let us know this and we will document this. Also, let us know if your child wears glasses or is in the process of getting glasses.
3. If your child has a medical plan or needs medication at school, a new plan and new medication order are needed EVERY YEAR. A doctor or nurse practitioner has to fill out this information. Again, please call the clinic with questions regarding this.
4. Please send an extra change of clothes in your child's bookbag EVERY DAY in case a need arises for them to change.
5. Please be mindful of not sending your child to school if he/she is exhibiting signs of illness (temperature, productive cough, vomiting, for example). We want to avoid clusters of illnesses.
Our number one goal is to keep your child in school and be an encouragement to the child at school! We will focus on healthy habits and promote perseverance in health! If we recognize your child has been coming to the clinic too frequently or missing school frequently, we will call you to discuss, try to identify how we can help, and try to figure out a pattern behind the visits.
Thank you for partnering with us this school year, and please call us with any questions!
Sincerely,
Sarah Park, BSN, RN (sarah.park@chardonschools.org)
Renee Kolenich, MA (renee.kolenich@chardonschools.org)

We need your updated information as soon as possible! Find Annual Update instructions HERE.
The first class to complete 100% of their Annual Updates will win a special snack treat for the entire class! Stay tuned to see who's in the lead!

Thank You!
We would like to give a special, heartfelt THANK YOU to the Ramsey family for donating the beautiful flowers in our planters! Thank you also to the PTO board and families that donated lunch to the staff on the first day of school! It was very much appreciated! Finally, a huge thank you to all of the parents who have been prompt with returning forms, calling in absences and dismissal forms, sending in school supplies, etc. We know it is a hectic time of year, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation in getting the school year off to a successful start.
