THE LION'S ROAR!
August 9th, 2024
December 13, 2024
FROM OUR PRIDE LEADER
Hello Norris Lions!
We have continued to work hard on our MAP assessments this week, and WOW you should see the paper chains we are creating to show off our growth! We are celebrating our student's growth with a display in the main hallway, including a paper chain with a link for every point grown on the MAP assessments! Students are loving seeing the chain grow, and knowing that their hard work contributed to the many links on the chain!
We also had a wonderful performance by our Band and Orchestra students in 4th and 5th grade. During the day performance for our students, we held our 2nd quarter ticket drawing and poured the tickets into our new 'Ticket Tower'! We met our Ticket Tower goal, and all students earned an hour of 'ROAR and Relax' Free time today! It was a great way to end a very busy week!
We hope to see you all out at Bounce U on Thursday, December 19th from 5:00-8:00 for our Norris Bounce U fundraiser! Be sure to mention Norris when you check in, and a portion of the sale will come back to our school!
Have a great weekend!

ROAR Skill of the Week - Working With Others
Each week, all students at Norris will have a lesson practicing a social skill. These weekly lessons are called our ROAR Skills of the Week! ROAR skills are practiced in the classroom during a Morning Meeting. All staff members are on the lookout through the week for students to be practicing the weekly skill. Students who demonstrate the skill of the week may earn a ROAR ticket and be entered into a weekly grade level drawing.
Please take some time each week to review the ROAR Skill of the Week with your child!
December Breathing Exercise- Hot Cocoa
All students are practicing the calming strategy of Bubble Breath during the month of November! Practice this at home when your child is in need of a tool to help them calm down!
Norris Student Birthday Policy
As described in our Parent Handbook, here are the Norris Policies regarding Student birthdays:
BIRTHDAY INVITATIONS, BALLOONS & FLOWERS
In order for your child to bring invitations to school to give out before, during or after school, for a party at home or elsewhere, all children in the class would need to be invited so that feelings are not hurt. Otherwise, please make arrangements to distribute invitations from home. Our Buzz Book will be helpful with this, which is shared through the PTO website.
Please do not send birthday treats/cupcakes/etc. to school. Student birthdays are recognized during morning announcements, and celebrated in the classroom without food products. Balloons or flowers are not to be sent to school for your child’s birthday, etc. due to student’s allergies in addition to distractions caused in the learning environment.
