Commitment to Brewster Community
We are here to do good things for our students, our coworkers, and our community.
We represent qualities such as love, hope, kindness, respect, and responsibility.
Our culture mirrors those attributes.
Let's continue to make our school the best place to work and learn
where everyone is inspired to be the best they can be.
What we do, we do well.
Let's keep the courage to shape a bright future for our students.
Dear Brewster Families,
As we celebrate this special day of kindness, love, and friendship, let’s take a moment to appreciate the wonderful community we’re all a part of. Whether you're sharing a smile with a friend, a note of gratitude with a teacher, or a hug with a family member, today reminds us of the power of kindness that can brighten any day—even the snowiest ones!
As we head into the weekend, mid-winter break, and brace for yet another a snowy adventure, let’s spread warmth and joy like never before. There’s something magical about a blanket of snow, and it’s the perfect time to bundle up, make a snowman, or enjoy cozy moments inside with loved ones. Remember, snowflakes may fall, but the kindness we share makes everything brighter.
Have fun, stay safe, and remember—just like the snowflakes that make up a winter wonderland, each one of you makes our community a little more special. Thank you for making today—and every day—a celebration of friendship, love, and joy!
With snowy smiles and warm hearts,
Mrs. Dessy and the Brewster School Community

Attention 5th Grade Families!
Dear 5th grade families,
We are excited to share information about the 6th grade math general education courses available for the 2025-2026 school year: Math 6 and Accelerated Math 6.
Math 6 is the standard course where students will learn the 6th grade Michigan Math Standards.
Accelerated Math 6 is the advanced course where students will learn 7th-grade Michigan Math Standards, along with supplemental 6th-grade content only when necessary.
How to Choose the Right Course:
- If your child’s appropriate placement would be in the standard Math 6 course, no further action is needed. They will be automatically enrolled in Math 6.
- Families who are considering Accelerated Math 6 for their child will use the RCS suggested criteria to determine appropriate placement.
- The RCS suggested criteria and process for signing up are shared in the 5th grade family letter.
- The deadline to sign up for Accelerated Math 6 is Friday, March 7th.
If you have any questions or would like more information about the course options, please join our Zoom webinar on Thursday, February 27th at 7:00 pm. We will go over the details and answer any questions you may have.

POSITIVITY PROJECT
Dear Families,
Next week, our school community will focus on the Other People Mindset of Cheering Others’ Successes. This means when someone else does well, we are happy for them and show our support.
It's normal to sometimes feel jealous or envious when others succeed, but learning to genuinely celebrate their accomplishments can improve our own happiness and relationships. Supporting others not only helps them feel good but also strengthens our community and creates a positive environment.
Encouraging your child to be happy for others can start with simple actions, such as congratulating a friend, noticing feelings of envy and asking why, or learning from others’ successes. These steps build a supportive culture in families, teams, schools, and communities.
To practice and encourage this Other People Mindset at home, please visit The Positivity Project’s mobile-friendly P2 for Families (available in English and Spanish), where you will watch a video together and discuss a quote and three questions. Below are links to this week’s P2 for Families lessons. Click on the grade level that best meets your child’s needs.
Thank you for your support!
