MESSAGE FROM DR. PAPA
October was an exiciting month here at Arthur Stanlick. I want to thank Miss Santini and Miss Yermal for leading a successful and creative Week of Respect during the second week of the month. In their classrooms, students participated in lessons and activties to inspire them with positive strategies to always choose to be respectful and kind. Our first grade teachers hosted a fantastic Family Reading Night on Wednesday, October 16th. Thank you to our Jefferson Township Fire Department Ladder No. 2 for an engaging Fire Prevention assembly for our students. Additionally, thank you to our Jefferson Township Police Department for leading our students through Halloween safety strategies. Shout out to Mrs. Keyser for leading our school through the Read For the Record initiative. Our school joined with millions around the world in reading Piper Chen Sings. Thank you to our JCPTA for sponsoring a successful Fun Run (see photos below) on Friday, October 25th. Finally, thank you to our staff and parent volunteers for making Halloween a fun and exciting day for our students. All of the help and support made the parades and parties a real success!
For the month of November, we are looking forward to our Parent/Teacher Conferences next week. Please be advised that Monday (11/4), Tuesday (11/5), & Wednesday (11/6) are early dismissal days to accomodate our conferences. Students will be dismissed at 1:05. A shout out to Mrs. Lorenzo for collecting candy to donate to our brave men and women serving in our Armed Forces. We appreciate all of the donations! We are excited to host our annual Veteran's Day assembly on Monday, November 11th. Please see the flyer below for more information. In closing, as we prepare for the Thanksgiving holiday, we are grateful for our Jefferson Girl Scouts Troop 97973 for leading our 5th Annual Food Drive. FALCON FUN RUN
A huge thank you to our JCPTA for sponsing a highly-successful Fun Run on Friday, October 25th. Our students had a blast running laps, collecting marks, and calculating how much they raised. We appreciate all of our parent volunteers for making this event possible for our students to have a great time.

ELECTION DAY
On Tuesday, November 5th our students will make their voices heard by voting in our school-wide election. Every student will cast a vote for one of the ballot initiatves seen below. We believe in the power of student voice and by providing this opportunity, students will experience the democratic process within their school. Students will vote in booths located inside of our media center. Our student council representatives will count each ballot and announce the results by the end of the school day. Thank you to Mrs. Kirschner, Miss Nimmo, and Mrs. Sell for leading this authentic learning experience for our students. We are looking forward to sharing the election results with you.
CLASSROOM HIGHLIGHTS
Every month we will highlight one grade level, one specialist, and one special education classroom to showcase the great things happening here at Arthur Stanlick inside of our classrooms.
SECOND GRADE HIGHLIGHTS
Second grade has been very busy! In math, we have been working on Place Value to 1,000 and Patterns within Numbers. Students are really enjoying sharing their personal experiences during Writing Workshop. We kicked off some fun fall activities celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday by making homemade applesauce. Bat day will be celebrated on Monday, October 28th. Students will rotate to other second grade classrooms to participate in fun bat activities! Stay tuned for information on Grandparents Day! This special day will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27th 9:15-10:15.
SPOTLIGHT CLASSROOM: MRS. DILIZIA
Mrs. DiLizia’s ELA classes recently read Flat Stanley. The students learned that the main character, Flat Stanley, went on many adventures! The class did a fun writing activity, where each student took a “Flat Mrs. DiLizia” on an adventure and wrote about it. Flat Mrs. DiLizia did so many exciting things! She went on a fishing trip, saw the Northern Lights, went pumpkin picking, went out to dinner, went to the beach, went to a pet store, and attended a flag football practice. Mrs. DiLizia was a very busy lady!
SPECIALIST FOCUS: MRS. KIRSCHNER, MRS. THOMSEN, & MRS. SVENDSEN - MUSIC

3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade students have been reviewing steady beat and 4-beat rhythmic patterns to different songs from around the world!
