Spanish II Project
As a Spanish II Project, Profe Berbeo's class learned about going shopping in a supermarket in Colombia. Students practiced vocabulary about different kinds of products. They made a display about the categories that they found in the online page of "Exito", a Colombian supermarket, and included 5 products per category.
They also tagged the price of each product in Colombian money (pesos colombianos), learning that $1 American dollar is around $4,800 pesos colombianos. They made conversions and figured out what products are more expensive there than here, and vice versa, which gave them an idea about the cost of living in this beautiful Latin American country.
Profe Berbeo congratulates student Lucas Mirisola and all the class for the great job, and invites all the students to stop by and check the "El supermercado" display next to Mr. Smeltzer's classroom.
Wild Care visits the Animal Welfare Club
Recently, Amy Sanders from WILD CARE, a wild animal rehab facility in Eastham, visited the Animal Welfare Club meeting to discuss the important work that Wild Care provides, what to do if we find possibly hurt or abandoned wild life, and last but not least, how to care for Nickerson the little screech owl who fell when the tall tree she lived in fell in a storm. Nickerson may have lost her vision in one eye but she was very observant of us and our movements! She was sleepy at first (of course...she's nocturnal) and let us know she was annoyed, but she quickly warmed up to us and was a treasure to view. Thanks again to Amy and Wild Care for the visit!
Congratulations to Simon MacBride!
It has been some time since we’ve sent students to audition for the All-Cape & Islands Jazz Band because contenders were involved in the pit band for the musical. Junior Simon MacBride-a force in the pit & our Jazz band beat the competition and is sitting first! The festival will be in April at D-Y.
All-Cape and Islands Festival
On February 2-4, 2023, Monomoy Regional High School had 22 students participate in the All-Cape and Islands Festival! Our students performed in the Treble and Mixed Choirs, the Concert Band, and the Orchestra. It was a blast! Congratulations to them all, and we can't wait for next year!

Through the Cape Cod Commission, the Climate Initiative is a program for selected students on the Cape who want to learn about the climate and the effects of climate change. Through the program, these students will learn, teach and work on a project related to climate change.
Through NOAA, an ocean ambassadorship is an international group of selected students who are interested in the ocean and preserving local and worldwide water bodies. Through the NOAA program, these students will learn about ocean preservation and become part of a like-minded community.
These will be exciting experiences for Gareth which will build his resume for this field and for college as well!
Kudos!

Families with MassHealth Need to Renew Coverage:
Families with MassHealth need to renew their coverage this year in order to maintain coverage. Coverage protections put in place during the pandemic will end soon, and MassHealth will return to standard annual eligibility renewal processes. MassHealth families need to take the following steps:
Update contact information – make sure MassHealth has their most up-to-date address, phone number, and email so that they do not miss important information and notices about what else is needed.
Report household changes to make sure MassHealth knows about any changes in their household, like a new job, address, changes to income, disability status, or pregnancy.
More information is available on the MassHealth’s Redetermination website.
