School Board has officially approved the new rezoning plan (Plan B) that will affect our Highlands community. This decision will bring about significant changes to the school assignments for our students, aimed at balancing enrollment and enhancing educational opportunities for all. Thank you so much for attending our recent Highlands STEAM Family Night! We are incredibly grateful for your participation and for making the event such a success. The activities, created by our very own talented teachers, were designed with your family in mind, and we hope everyone had a great time exploring, learning, and creating together.

The Houston Rockets, Whataburger, and participating libraries including HIGHLANDS ELEMENTARY have teamed up to promote the love of reading and increase literacy in our schools!

Please help us win the ROCKET’S READ NATION CHALLENGE this year by promoting reading and logging minutes in Beanstack on the Rocket’s Read Nation Challenge.

Spring Challenge

Timeframe: January 13, 2025 - February 14, 2025

Schools log the total reading minutes, and the top three schools with the most minutes will win a grand prize, which includes:

• An End of the Year Rally with special guests from the Houston Rockets!
• Free Library furniture
• Games and prizes

How to Participate

1. Have students log into their bean stack app on Monday to join the Rocket’s Read Nation challenge that starts Monday, January 13th!
2. Tell Students: Start logging ALL of your reading minutes at school and at home that include when you’re read to or when you read to someone else! Anytime to you read, it counts!

Come on Hawks! Let’s win a Houston Rocket’s pep rally for our school! Competition ends, Friday February 14th!

The Law and Public Service career cluster focuses on planning, managing, and providing legal services, public safety, protective services and homeland security, including professional and technical support services. While the Health Science career cluster focuses on planning, managing, and providing therapeutic services, and biotechnology research and development.
