🐾 October Edition 🐾
Note From Mr. Rustad
Kennedy Families,
September is done and October is here! One month is in the books and it has been great. There have been many highlights throughout the first 6 weeks of the school year. In this newsletter we will reflect on the some recent highlights - our first assembly, the fundraiser, and the September Students of the Month Celebration. In addition, you will hear about some exciting things that are coming up over the next couple of weeks.
Thank you for your continued partnership with us at Kennedy. It is our goal to have a strong connection with each of our Kennedy families. We talk a lot about Kennedy B.E.S.T. with our students. They all know that the "T" in B.E.S.T. stands for "T"together WE are Kennedy. Kennedy is a truly special school community and I am certain it is because of the partnerships we have with our families. Teachers, families, and students work together to ensure that each student has the best possible school experience. Kennedy serves a highly diverse student body. We are diverse by race, diverse by socio-economics, and diverse in our beliefs. We believe that this diversity makes our students stronger and smarter, as well as more compassionate and understanding of the world around them. Each student and family is welcomed and loved. We are so thankful for each person who is part of this great community - educators, parents, guardians, and students.
Thank you for being part of the Kennedy family. It's great to be a Cub!

Mascot Run Fundraiser Update
The Mascot Run is almost here! We have two more days of fundraising to reach our goal of $10,000! As of 10/14, our Cubs have raised almost $8,900!! That is only $1,100 short of our goal. If we get to $10,000, we will have the Kennedy staff and Mascots participate in a tug-o-war!!! A few classrooms have reached their goal and will get a popcorn party, and a few more are at least half-way to their goals! It's too close to tell which classroom will raise the most and get to decorate the Kennedy front entrance. Here is where each of the classrooms stand:
- Lout: $868.38 (POPCORN PARTY)
- McConkey: $492 Wiste: $742.47 (POPCORN PARTY)
- Brennan: $535.22
- Dahline: $316.35

We can do this, Cubs! Just $1,100 more to reach our goal!

Kennedy B.E.S.T. Assembly with the Mankato East Cougars
We had our first Kennedy B.E.S.T. assembly of the school year on October 9th. Coach Eric Davis and members of the East football team came to speak to the Cubs about what it takes to be a student athlete. All the football players who spoke are Cub alumni - it was great to have them all back at Kennedy! The assembly was extra special for Coach Davis as his daughter Gabby, a 3rd grader at Kennedy, had the opportunity to introduce him to the whole school. At the end of the assembly, Ms. Helget let the students know about the Cub Shoppe and PTO members Emily and Amber pumped up the students for the fundraiser penny wars.
We are fortunate at Kennedy to have such a strong connection with East High School. We take advantage of our proximity to help build excitement in our Cubs about being future Cougars. Thank you to Coach Davis and the football players for joining us for our assembly!
