Message from the Principal
Great deal of particulars to share - Let's get started!
Good Afternoon Chloe Families,
I hope you have been enjoying the start to this wonderful week - we are still getting quite a bit of that amazing Fall sunshine. The official last day of summer is Sunday, Sept. 22nd; we are seeing the days getting shorter and the weather will soon change. With that said, we ask that you ensure your child has a waterproof coat, boots, and hat to wear while at recess. Here in Washington, we do play in the rain! We know our students need this valuable outdoor time, so let's make sure they are dressed for the weather.
· We are having our first emergency drill this Friday. All staff will be teaching students the protocol for a fire drill and building evacuation. We ask that you encourage your children to listen and follow the teacher's directions. You would be so proud and amazed to see how quickly and efficiently this drill goes after one practice session. It is imperative that our students know how to get out of the building in a timely manner. Going forward, we will be practicing different types of emergency drills at least once a month.
· For those of you that are military connected and have signed up for counseling services with our MFLC counselor, Kelsey Halpern, please know that per regulations she is not allowed to initiate conversations with parents directly and she is not on our district Parent Square. You, however, are welcome to call her during school hours. She can be reached in building at 253-583-7151 and would love to chat with you. Make sure to check out the ‘Counselor’s Corner’ in our weekly briefings.
Always remember that we are here to support you and your family. If you are in need of help or information, please do not hesitate to give us a call.
Warm Regards,
Principal Duncan
Picture Day is coming
Important Reminders
- We go outside in all kinds of weather - please make sure to have an extra set of clothing in your child's back pack for those unforeseen accidents or puddle mishaps.
- Please make sure all clothing items brought to school are labeled with your students name - our lost and found bin is already starting to fill up.
- We ask that you do not bring any fast food, pizza, Subway, Starbucks, etc. to your child during the school day or for their lunch. We understand there are special occasions - it is always a fun surprise to check your child out for a lunch date or eat lunch in our lunchroom with them. A special home packed lunch or Sodexo school lunch is a great option!
- Please check with your classroom teacher about Birthday treats - we encourage treat bags with individually wrapped goodies, stickers, etc. Unfortunately, due to severe allergies with some students, homemade baked items are not allowed.
- *WE NEED YOU*
Our amazing PTA is hosting a membership drive from October 1st thru October 30th. The grade level who brings in the most PTA memberships by the 30th will win a PIZZA PARTY!
Counselor's Corner
Hello Families,
This week and next, Ms. Kelsey and I are visiting classrooms to introduce ourselves and talk about how the counselors at school support our Chloe Clark community. Our goal this year is to help students, staff, and families feel that they belong here at Chloe Clark. Belonging doesn't just mean being affiliated with a group, but also to feel safe, accepted, cared for, and valued. We will be focusing this year on how being safe, kind, helpful, and working hard helps everyone belong here at Chloe. Please reach out if there is anything that we can do to support your student.
