Opening Message From Dr. Galusi
Dear MPS Families and Caregivers,
While every month is packed with exciting events, important academics and noteworthy celebrations, perhaps none are busier than the May and June. The final two months of the school year are filled with ceremonies and recognition of student achievement, and we want to ensure you don't miss important announcements regarding them! As a result, please regularly check your email and communicate with your child regarding these end of year assignments, events and celebrations.
Next Wednesday, May 7, will be an Early Release Day for all students. Middle School students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and all other students will be dismissed at 12 p.m. Our Spring Walk, Bike, Ride to School Day will be happening that morning as we shine a spotlight on an active way of getting to school. Contact your school's PTO to find our where your school communities will be joining up on their way to school. In the evening, cheer on our Medford teachers and staff as they take on the Harlem Wizards! The game starts at 7:00 p.m. at Medford High School; Visit Here to purchase tickets.
Before getting into the rest of today's message, I'd like to wish our students taking AP, MCAS, and other exams next week the best of luck! Our students have been engaging in course content and critical thinking throughout the school year, and our staff has the upmost confidence in them ahead of their exams.
Sincerely,
Dr. Suzanne B. Galusi
Middle & High School Students Attend Empowering Girls Conference
Thank you to District Attorney Marian Ryan for hosting our middle and high school students at Wednesday's Empowering Girls Conference! Held annually in Newton, our Mustang students were some of the more than 500 young women from across Middlesex County in attendance.
The conference focuses on empowering young women to have a positive influence on their peers and positive impact in their communities.
Our students enjoyed the opportunity to foster confidence-building, self-assertion, goal setting and building healthy relationships with students from neighboring communities. We look forward to seeing our students bring these elevated skills back into our school communities!

May is Food Allergy Awareness Month
Food allergies affect 1 in 13 children—that’s about 2 in every classroom. Schools and families can work together to create safer, more inclusive environments for all kids. Medford Public Schools promote allergy awareness in our schools. Take the time to:
Talk to your children about food allergies and being a PAL
Learn how to read food labels and prevent cross-contamination
Read about Food Allergy Facts and Myths
Ask about food allergies as you plan celebrations with family and friends
The Medford School Nurses are teaming up with Parents and Caregivers to form a Food Allergy Educational Support Group. We are very excited for our first meeting via Zoom on Thursday, May 15th at 7:30 p.m. This group’s objective is to provide camaraderie, friendship, networking, support and education for MPS families who have children diagnosed with food allergies.
Additionally, the support group has affiliated with the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, New England Chapter (AAFANE). For more networking and education, please join the in-person AAFANE Food Allergy Conference and Expo.
