E. J. Swint Elementary
Presented By: Jamie Harris
Introduction
In this monthly report, I will focus on the August and October data and activities in the library.
Circulation Report
The graph below display the number of books that were checked out by students August - October. Also, the media center didn't allow students to check out in August until the third week because the first two weeks consisted of library orientation.
Number of Books Checked Out
Circulation Needs
I feel students need to have a variety of books to read. I think the science collection need more books. After the media specialist and I looked at the collections, we notice that the media didn't have a lot of selection when it came to books on plants, life science, and earth science. The media specialist decided to order more book on plants, life science, and earth science to make sure to have enough resources for the curriculum.
Acitvities I participated during August - October
- Grandparent’s Day
- The Georgia Picture Book Reading Bowl (Assist with prep the students for competition in January)
- Book Fair (October)
- International Literacy Day
- Morning Announcements (Help run the newsroom in the morning)
- Holiday Festivals (Halloween and Thanksgiving)
Breakfast snack
This year the district cut our budget drastically, so we didn't have enough funds to provide more option.

Professional Development
The professional development that schedule to attend on November 8, 2018, is Georgia Educational Technology Conference. I look forward to going because I love technology and I know I will leave having a lot of tools that I can use in the media center.
Also, I presented "How to create a Google Classroom" as my professional development workshop in October which went well. Having the staff to complete a survey before I came up with a topic helped me meet the needs of the teachers. The educators were engaged during my presentation because I value their time and needs.
