Dear Thacher Families,
Boosterthon is in full swing! Katy Kat, Legendary Liz and Zack Attack have been here since Wednesday and will be with us all next week with their World Changer lessons. We hope you join us next Friday to watch the Fun Run!
9:30 - 10:30: Grades K & 1 and Ms. Money, Ms. Robitaille, Ms. Dindy and Ms. Daley's classes
1:30 - 2:30: Grades 2, 3 and 4 and Ms. Paine
As a reminder, this is the primary fundraiser that the PTO runs throughout the year that helps fund field trips and other enrichment opportunities.
The teachers were victorius today in our annual staff vs. students kickball game. Ms. Bassler's class put up a good fight but couldn't overcome the firepower the teacher brought, putting up 20 runs. Feel free to peruse the photo album.
Sincerely,
Mr. Rich, Principal

Warm weather Tips
Protect from heat: Never leave children unattended in the car even if the window is cracked open.
Dress for the weather: The children should dress in protective clothing that is cool and comfortable. Keep in mind, students do go outside for recess and there is limited shade. Encourage your child to wear hats with brims and sunglasses.
Reduce your risk of sun exposure: Reduce your risk: limit outdoor time between 10am-4pm when the sun’s rays are strongest; apply sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher in the morning before school.
Protect against Poison Ivy, Oak, and Sumac: Children should wear appropriate clothing to protect skin exposure to poison ivy, especially in wooded or grassy areas. Showering after being outdoors is also a good practice to prevent irritation. Over-the-counter medications can provide relief from minor symptoms. But when the rash affects the face or eyes, contact your doctor.
Stay hydrated: Proper hydration is essential for good health in warm weather as the body works to regulate temperature. Please encourage your child to have a full glass of water with breakfast and provide a water bottle for your child each day. Be sure to wash reusable water bottles daily.
Protect against bug bites: Ticks and mosquitoes can spread vector-borne infections such as Lyme disease and West Nile virus. Reduce your risk: wear long sleeves and pants; use mosquito repellant on exposed skin and clothing when mosquitoes are active; check your body for ticks after spending the day in wooded or tall grassy areas; if you find a tick, remove it with tweezers and disinfect the area.
Protect against injuries: Protect against concussions and head injuries by making sure your child wears a helmet when riding their bikes and scooters and using skateboards and roller skates. Make sure your child is monitored at all times when riding in places where there is traffic.

May Art News
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we wrap up another incredible year of artistic exploration and growth, I am thrilled to share with you the highlights of our journey through creativity and imagination in the realm of art at Thacher School. From colorful kindergarten creations to the intricate sunset paintings of our fourth grade artists, it has been a year filled with boundless inspiration and endless possibilities.
Our youngest Kindergarten students embarked on an exhilarating adventure of colors, shapes, and textures. Through a variety of literacy inspired art activities they discovered the joy of self-expression. From vibrant rainbows to whimsical animals, their creations transported us to magical worlds filled with wonder.
In first grade, our budding Picassos delved into the world of lines, patterns, and color. They explored various mediums, from crayons to watercolors, experimenting fearlessly with strokes and shades. Their imaginative creations showcased their burgeoning talent and boundless creativity—their Abstract Art Paintings are simply Amazing!
Second grade artists embraced the wonders of the art world as they explored various famous artists and their styles. From Picasso's Peace Bouquets, to Mondrian's Abstract Art, their artwork radiated with personality and charm, reflecting their growing confidence and artistic vision.
In third grade, our young visionaries experimented with color theory and clay, while discovering Native American artistic traditions with Dreamcatchers and Arrowhead Pendants. They also created several projects that integrate with Earth Sciences - their 3D Clay Planet Sculptures were out of this world!
Our fourth-grade artists concluded the year with a flourish, showcasing their mastery of various techniques and mediums. From clay pottery to textile design, they pushed the boundaries of their creativity, tackling complex themes and concepts, such as Optical Illusion Art. Their artworks served as testaments to their growth as artists and individuals, inspiring us all with their passion and dedication.
As we bid farewell to another remarkable year, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our young artists for sharing their talents, curiosity, and enthusiasm with us. It has been an honor and a privilege to witness their growth and transformation, and I cannot wait to see where their artistic journeys take them next.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer filled with creativity, exploration, and endless inspiration!
Warm regards,
Nancy Dickson, M.Aed.
