Dear Winnetka Kindergarten Families,
We are eager to welcome your Kindergartener to The Winnetka Public Schools this coming August! As we prepare for the 24/25 school year, we are sharing a few important reminders regarding forms and upcoming dates.
Kindergarten Connection: August 21 & 22, 2024
Below are school-specific links to sign-up for a time for your child to come to our Kindergarten Connection. During this time, your child will get to work in a small group and one-on-one with teachers. This is critical to building relationships and helping the school create balanced homerooms that can support all students.
Note: Due to construction at our schools, Greeley, Hubbard Woods and Crow Island will be hosting this event for all students at The Winnetka Presbyterian Church at 1255 Willow Road.
Kindergarten Meet and Greet Day: August 29, 2024–10:45-11:30 a.m.
Transitioning to Kindergarten can be a significant change for some students. With this in mind, our kindergarten team will host a brief meet and greet time the day before school officially begins. Students will have an opportunity to preview their classroom, meet their teacher and classroom associate, and become acquainted with some of their future classmates. These sessions will be split into smaller groups to ease students’ transition into kindergarten and ensure a touchpoint between teacher and child. Specific times will be communicated by teachers after class placements are released.
Kindergarten Bus Roundup: Friday, August 30, 2024–8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Incoming Kindergarten bus riders (along with their parents and siblings) are invited to ride the bus to their assigned school on Friday, August 30th. The buses will make their first pick up at 8:05 a.m. before arriving at their school. After meeting with their principal they will board the bus and be dropped off at their stop. The District Office will send out an email and letter in mid-August to Kindergarten bus riders.
If your child is not registered for the bus and you plan to utilize bus service, note fees increase as of July 19, 2024. Please call the District Office if you have any questions about bus registration: 847-446-9400 or visit the website.
This Kindergarten Program Overview also serves as a resource for families. Additionally, for other important dates, please review the 2024/2025 calendar. Please expect further communication from us in August. We are excited to welcome our youngest students to our school community!
