Next Week are Early Dismissal Days for Conferences
Just a reminder that the district will have early dismissal days on Monday (11-6-23), Tuesday (11-7-23), and Wednesday (11-8-23) to accommodate parent-teacher conferences. School is closed for students on Thursday (11-9-23) & Friday (11-10-23).
Here are some tips to help us all navigate the early dismissal days with success!
Success On The Bus & Parent Pick Up:
For transportation purposes, your little ones will arrive home or child care approximately 2 HOURS EARLIER than their normal drop off time in the afternoon.
Parent Pick up time is approximately 2 HOURS EARLIER than the normal pick up time in the afternoon.
For example, if your child gets off the bus at 3:44pm on a normal school day.....they will be arriving at 1:44pm on these early dismissal days.
Success With No Lunch Time:
Lunch is NOT served on Early Dismissal days. Teachers will recommend that their students pack a bit more snack on these days.
Please let us know if any clarifications are needed and wishes for a great week!
one school one book
Hello HTS Families~
I am happy to announce that we have two big events to celebrate at HTS this school year- One School, One Book and a visit from author Elana K. Arnold!
The goal of the One School, One Book initiative is to have our whole school community reading and talking about the same book at the same time. Our book choice for this year is A Boy Called Bat. We will kick off the event in school sometime after the new year in 2024. Our entire school is encouraged to read the book and celebrate with discussions, activities and contests throughout the winter. Many teachers will be reading the book aloud in class. We will have our final celebration on Thursday, March 14, 2024 with a visit from Elana K. Arnold!
If you would like to purchase the book for your child to read, please complete THIS order form and return it to your child’s teacher by Thursday, November 30, 2023. Purchased copies will be distributed in school in January.
We are excited to celebrate reading as a school community and look forward to your child’s participation in the event. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Tracy Beyrodt

Screen Free Day is November 22
On November 22, 2023, the entire district will be participating in a Screen Free Day.
Screen-Free Week is an annual event where children, families, schools and communities are encouraged to turn off screens and "turn on life". Instead of relying on television programming for entertainment, computers, and Smartboards, participants read, daydream, explore, enjoy nature, and spend time with family and friends. This is typically held in May for an entire week.
At Harrison Elementary, we have picked a day, November 22nd to be Screen-Free all day long.
HERE is additional information.
