I am excited to share that our first SOAR Store was a success today! As you know, students at Liberty Ridge earn SOAR tickets for following expectations.

A-achieve excellence

R-respectful behavior

Each Friday we will have the SOAR store and students will get to trade in their tickets for a variety of goodies! Ask your child about what they bought at the SOAR store today, and please keep encouraging them to follow SOAR expectations at LRE!

Students Arriving Late for the School Day:

When students are tardy, parents are no longer able to drop them at the curb, they need to walk them into the school building and sign them in with office staff. Arriving on time will prevent the need to have to walk them in as well as create less disruption to classroom learning for the other students in the class. Thanks for your help in getting kids to school on time!

Due to increased vandalism at Liberty Ridge Elementary, the gate at the school’s back entrance will be closed and locked when school is not in session. Liberty Ridge neighbors who can use the outdoor amenities responsibly are able to access the campus from the 209th Ave. Ct. E. entrance.

Organizations with reserved space will still receive access during their requested time.

Locking the gate will help protect student and staff safety and minimize damage to school property.

We appreciate the Liberty Ridge community’s patience and help to maintain a clean, safe and secure space.

Free workshop helps families prepare children for kindergarten

Ready! for Kindergarten is a free program that offers age-appropriate targets, training and tools for parents and caregivers of children birth to age five that ensure success in school. Learn more about the importance of nurturing a child’s development in their earliest years in this video.

Click here to register now for our winter sessions. Families new to Ready! must attend orientation from 6-6:30 p.m. on the date of their registered session.

• Wednesday, March 8 at Sumner Early Learning Center

*Please select one session date to attend per registered child.

Do you know a child who will be five years old on or before Aug. 31? Maybe it's your neighbor, friend or even your own child. Now’s the time to enroll kindergarten students for the 2023-24 school year. The sooner you enroll, the better we can keep you informed.

School orientations

To help welcome new kinders and their families, each of our elementary schools will host a Kindergarten Roundup. Prior to kinder screening, Roundup provides students/families an opportunity to physically tour school and meet important people as well as get pertinent information regarding registration. Find the date and time for each school’s orientation.

New immunization requirements

New requirements are in effect for students in preschool and kindergarten who are four years old or older on Sept. 1. Learn about the requirements, documentation, exceptions and more.

Class photos and Spring Portraits are February 24th. Order forms have been distributed. Photos of all classes will be taken. Please make sure your student is here that day during their picture time to ensure their participation as there are no retakes. Spring portraits will only be taken of students who have their picture packet with them at the time of their class photos. If your student does not have it with them, they won't be able to take their portraits.

Dear Families – Kids Heart Challenge has officially kicked off, and we are so excited to Be the Torch that will light the torch of hope in the fight against heart disease and stroke! We are encouraging ALL our families to learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR. Thank you for all your HEART work supporting our school and the American Heart Association!

Visit the Sumner Community Food Bank on Feb. 20 or 21 for free dental services, sponsored by the Pierce County Local Impact Network. There will be two events:

• Feb. 20: Free Kids Dental Day, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free screenings and sealants.

• Feb. 21: Free Dental Day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Urgent adult dental care, insurance sign-up assistance and free referrals.

Both events will be held at Sumner Community Food Bank, 15625 Main St. E. in Sumner.

Appointments are encouraged. Schedule one now at this link.

• The Student has tested positive for, or is waiting on a test for COVID-19
• The student has been told to self isolate or quarantine by public health or a medical professional
• Any of these symptoms are present:

• Fever of 100.4 or higher

• Cough- frequent and persistent

• Loss of taste or smell

• Shortness of breath

• Fatigue

• Muscle or body aches

• Sore throat

• Congestion or runny nose

• Nausea, diarrhea or vomiting
