A Strong Start

We had a great week with our students. They have done a wonderful job engaging in their learning, and we are impressed with how well they are transitioning to their new schedules. Many of our students participated in an assembly that encouraged students to pursue their passions and spread kindness. The students embraced the message and cheered loudly as one of the BMX bikers flipped over Dr. Beard! It was quite a moment, and we hope there are many more special moments we will experience together this school year! We encourage you to follow us on social media as we share glimpses of the great things that are happening in Crusader Nation.

School Rhythms and Expectations

We held class meetings this week to discuss student expectations and school policies. We will be visiting classrooms this week to recognize and celebrate classrooms where our daily expectations are being met.

Bags and Purses

Backpacks and large bags are not permitted in classrooms. Students should not be using drawstring bags or purses to carry school items. If the bag can fit a binder or Chromebook, then it is too big for the classroom and must be kept in a locker.

Jackets and Coats

The weather will be unpredictable this time of year, so we want to remind students to be prepared for the temperature changes without needing to wear a coat or jacket in class. These items are not allowed in classrooms.

Hats and Hoods

Hats are not permitted during the school day, so students need to put these items in their lockers upon entering the building. In addition, the hood of a sweatshirt should not be worn on a student's head.

School Pictures

Kaiser Studios will be here on Thursday, September 12th. Students who would like to purchase a photo package should plan on bringing their order forms when they get their pictures taken on this day. Package information is available on the attached brochure. In addition, students who have not taken a picture for their school ID can also get a photo taken on Thursday.

NWEA Testing

Our freshmen and sophomore students will begin NWEA testing this week. This assessment provides timely feedback for teachers to utilize as they provide opportunities for students to develop their individual strengths and grow in areas of need.

Homecoming

High School North's Homecoming Dance is scheduled for Saturday, September 28th. Tickets will be on sale this week during all lunches. Only seniors may bring an outside guest to the Homecoming Dance. Outside guest forms are now available in the main office. Completed forms must be approved before a ticket can be purchased for an outside guest.

PowderPuff

All payments and registration forms must be submitted by Wednesday, September 11th. Registration and participation questions should be directed to Mrs. Macomber or Mr. Ekdahl for juniors and Mrs. Jobes for seniors.

LCN Yearbooks

Yearbooks are now on sale and can be purchased online. A discount rate is available until this Friday. Please see the flyer below for additional information.

Chromebooks

Most of our students have received their Chromebooks; however, we will continue to distribute devices this week as students submit required paperwork. Insurance is available for $23. Additional information regarding device insurance is available here.

Sunrise

Thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time at our Senior Sunrise. It was a fun event and a great way to start this special year for our seniors.

Senior Gear

Class of 2025 clothing can be purchased online now! Please use the link to order your spirit gear to remember your final year at LCN.

Junior Class Apparel

We are ordering Junior class apparel for the Class of 2026. All payments must be paid online using SchoolPay. Click on the following link for ordering instructions: bit.ly/lcnjuniors. Please email James Ekdahl at ekdahja@lc-ps.org with any questions. The deadline for orders is Friday, September 13th.

Testing Info and Scholarship Opportunity

The PSAT/NMSQT is an optional test that will be offered to all juniors on Saturday, October 26th. This standardized exam gives students the opportunity to qualify for national scholarships. The cost of the exam is $15, and payment will be used as registration for this year’s test. The test will be administered at LCN. On test day, registration will begin at 7:30 and the test will take approximately 3 hours. Transportation will not be provided. All payments are final.

The deadline to register is at 9 am on September 13th. Please use the PaySchool link to register and provide payment.
