State Testing
State testing is upon us! Here are a couple things families can do to help students be as close to 100% as possible in mind and body on testing days:
- Make sure your child is getting adequate sleep. Most students are getting well below the recommended 9-12 hours of sleep.
- Make sure your child is fueled and hydrated appropriately. If they eat breakfast at school, please ensure they get to school in time to have breakfast.
- Talk to them about embracing where they are at and show off how much they have grown!
- Communicate any foreseen absences to your child's teacher to reschedule testing. Make up testing will be done the first day a student returns until everything is completed.
- Make sure they have headphones at school.

Dress Code Reminder
Here are some important dress code reminders as the weather begins to warm up. Students are expected to wear clothing that does not create an obvious distraction in the classroom. Shorts and skirt lengths must be appropriate (finger-tip) with or without leggings. Pants/jeans must be worn so that undergarments are not showing. Tops that expose backs or midriffs, halter-tops, spaghetti straps, or tube tops are not allowed. Shoulder-width tank tops may be worn. Appropriate shoes are required for P.E. and recess.
Library Books
The last day to checkout library books will be May 23. All library books will need to be returned by June 6.

April Bulldogs of the Month
Each month, Simpson students focus on developing specific character traits. Students learn what it looks like to exhibit these traits and are recognized for demonstrating them inside and outside of the classroom. April's character trait was "diligence." Congratulations to April's Bulldogs of the Month: Emmet K., Orion R., Jett B., Brielle B., Tate G., Eathan B., Zion S., Sofia G., Blake R., Waylon F., Kieran E., Ghil D., Ryan S., Max L., Misha L., Brooklyn B., Hadleigh R., Harrison U.,
Students will focus on "dependability" as the character trait for the month of May.

GH Youth Backpack Program
Grays Harbor Youth Backpack Program is a local nonprofit organization that assists school aged children that are dependent on school food programs. They help ensure kids in Grays Harbor have nutritional food over the weekends. They have generously provided Simpson with a few bags of food to send home with students should there be a need. Please feel free to reach out to the school office if this is something you are interested in for your child.
