Since 1984, the first week of May has been designated as a special time to honor the men and women who lend their passion and skills to educating our children. Today we have many reasons to celebrate the dedicated service of our teachers.

Three cheers to the teachers and staff at Hughston Elementary! We are blessed to have the most dedicated and caring staff ever. Our teachers continually show, even in the most challenging times, their dedication to love and grow our Hughston Mustangs. Thank you for caring so much, giving so much, and loving so much.

Families are welcome to show their appreciation for our staff in a their own unique ways. You could consider sending a personal email, card, or handwritten note using the teacher's email address or our school mailing address, C/O Hughston Elementary School, 2601 Cross Bend Road.

Hughston Mustangs, get ready for your Scholastic Book Fair! We're bringing the books to YOU! Our online fair will begin Monday, May 4th and will close Monday, May 18th. Please visit the library website at www.tinyurl.com/hughstonlibrary. You can click on the Book Fair link on the homepage and begin discovering some great books! Book orders over $25 receive free shipping! As always, all purchases benefit YOUR SCHOOL! Dear Hughston Families,

In order to plan for the upcoming school year, please indicate your plans for enrollment of your student(s) for the next school year. Complete the form for every student in your home who is CURRENTLY enrolled at Hughston. Please submit your answers by Friday, May 8th.

These questions can be done at anytime and are great ways to keep the lines of communication open.

Your Specials teachers and school Counselor want you to have access to activities while we're all learning and working from home. Hello Hughston PTA Members!

We hope you are all healthy, safe and doing well.

Our final PTA Meeting of the year will be Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 7pm. Please mark your calendar and attend if you're able. If you've never attended a PTA Meeting before, this is a great opportunity to join us and learn more about PTA from the comfort of your home. You do not have to be a member to attend but you do have to be a member to vote.

We will be holding elections for the Executive Board for the 2020/2021 school year as well as approving the current and upcoming operating Budget.

You must register to attend the meeting using the Google Form linked here - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdc9GZoO1iVBnatjFBh9gD3YNu1EFdUMZZHEKsSrY8C4iKESg/viewform?usp=sf_link Once you've registered, a Zoom invitation will be emailed to you.

We have 2 open positions on the 2020/2021 Executive Board and we encourage you to consider helping us fill those positions (1st VP Programs and President Elect). All individuals must notify us with their intent to run from the floor 5 Days prior to our meeting. The deadline for notification is May 3rd.

We appreciate all of your support this year and look forward to "seeing" you on May 7th! Please let me know if you have any questions as we all navigate this new territory of electronic meetings.

2020-2021 School Supplies will be on sale May 4th - June 5th. Please go to the Hughston PTA Website for ordering information.

Hughston will be recognized as a Certified Green School in a virtual ceremony of May 5th, by the City of Plano. Emily Rollins, PTA Environmental Chair, led the worked to meet the Green School certification requirements. Mrs. Rollins promoted recycling efforts and environmental education. Technology

Any students needing a Chromebook (new or replacement) should contact the Help Desk - (469) 752-8767 email tsos@pisd.edu. Free internet access is available through Charter Spectrum and Comcast. You can also access PISD Wi-Fi in school parking lots.

Meals

Our nearest meal distribution site will now be at Thomas Elementary. Meals will still be distributed Monday-Friday, 11:00am-1:00pm. Find all Grab & Go Meal information here.
