We concluded Kindness Week today with Student Appreciation Day (celebrated with pajamas)! It’s been fun watching students and staff “plant seeds of kindness” all week. If you’d like to donate something to our garden cause, here’s the link (cash or venmo is also accepted): https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D4EA9A92DAAF94-48541098-ridgeway
What an incredible year it has been so far! It’s hard to believe we have already reached Spring Break. There is something I need your help with as parents and guardians. Over break, please take time to review the following expectations with your child(ren). We will also review all school expectations when we return.
Physical Contact - Please discuss the importance of respecting personal space and using our words vs. hands to solve problems. Our rule at school is that you should never touch another person with any part of your body unless it is a high five wanted by both parties.
Kind and Appropriate Words - Our words can help or hurt. Before we make a comment, we need to stop and T.H.I.N.K (Is it True? Is it Helpful? Is it Inspiring? Is it Necessary? Is it Kind?). We do not call names, insult others, or comment on others in a negative way.
Time and Place for Competition - We have had a lot of issues with team sports at recess recently. We have some students who play competitively and others who have never played the sport other than at recess. Often our kids who play more competitively get mad and upset with those who aren’t to their level. Recess is for FUN, period.
We hope you all have an amazing week. See everyone April 1!

Message from Coach Mason
Hello Ridgeway Families,
Classes are going well, and we are reviewing skills we have already learned. There are vast improvements with all students.
Learning Objectives:
-We recently completed dribbling and kicking with your feet. Soccer dribbling and shooting were the main themes. We worked on skills, played small-sided games, and applied the correct technique.
-In the next few weeks, we will learn striking with an implement. We will use skills training, small-sided games, and challenges. Golf clubs, pool noodles, paddles, and hand striking are used during these lesson plans.
Unit C will finish the Fitness Gram assessment. This is a state mandate we provide in PE, and we had one practice and one final assessment in the school year. It is simply a way to provide feedback for areas needing improvement. This is a pre-test and post-test to gauge a student's health zone. The exercises include a pacer test, sit-and-reach, push-ups, sit-ups, and trunk flexibility.
Please remember to have your kids wear athletic shoes so they can run and move.
Sincerely,
Coach Mason

FunDay Needs Your Help
Calling all volunteers!
The count down is on until FunDay 2024 (Saturday, April 20th). Use this link to sign up to volunteer, or donate supplies!
Reminder that daily updates from PTSA-especially those regarding Fun Day-can be found on our Facebook page if you search Ridgeway Elementary PTSA Outreach.
Country Store Donations
If you find yourself cleaning closets over spring break, think of donations for the Country Store (think kids garage sale). No clothing or stuffed animals please.
We will start collecting donations the week before FunDay.
Ridgeway Autonomous School Committee News
ASC
The Ridgeway Elementary Autonomous School Committee’s mission is to offer guidance and leadership to the Ridgeway Elementary learning community, ensuring the success of Ridgeway as an Autonomous School and, most importantly, the success of every Ridgeway Elementary student. Annual Meeting
The ASC invites you to join our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 9 at 6:30 pm in the Media Center. The meeting provides the School Membership (parents and employees) an update on ASC work from this year and presents a proposed budget of additional funded positions for approval by the School Membership.
Nominations for next year's Committee
Ridgeway’s Autonomous School Committee’s Nomination Committee is now taking nominations for the following positions for the 2024-2025 school year:
- Member At Large
