Principal's Corner
Happy December, Little Golden Eagles!
Can you believe that we are almost done with the first half of the school year? Time sure does fly by when you're having fun! That's exactly what we're doing every day here at CES: we have fun and get work done! I want to extend a "thank you!" to the families who were able to attend our Parent-Teacher Conferences! Supporting your student through their foundational education is crucial for setting them up for future success! Please feel free to continue those conversations throughout the school year, and let me know how I can support you or your student!
It's getting colder (sigh!); please remember to send your student with a jacket, hat, gloves, etc. to ensure their comfort throughout the day. All students are expected to participate in outdoor recess unless there is inclement weather. Please label/mark these items so that we can get missing items back to their owners. If you have additional items that you no longer need or would like to donate to our "borrow room", please send washed items to the main office! Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Regular attendance is important to help your student grow and develop! Thank you for sending your student daily, ready to learn! We have a lot of educational activities happening daily, and your students will thrive in our multi-modal classrooms.
Wishing you a wonderful and joyous holiday season!
Educationally yours,
Mr. Jackson
Counseling Corner
Happy Holiday's Eagle Families!
As we enter into the busy season of holiday gatherings, traditions and fun remember to leave room for downtime. Just as adults, children need time to reset now and then. Sometimes the holiday's can become overwhelming, as resilient as they are, children need us as the adults to help protect their boundaries and show understanding when things becoming to stimulating. Give you, and your family grace and build in those reset days as a family, and even one on one time with your little ones.

K-Kids Peer Mentoring
1st & 2nd grade K-Kids have been visiting Kindergarten classrooms and role modeling positive play, good choices and conflict resolution strategies. In November they were able to support Kinders in making Veteran's Day cards to share with local Veterans.
2nd grade K-Kids are doing a FABULOUS job being recess buddies, supporting Kinders at recess throughout the month on positive play and choices. The Kinders love seeing them present on the playground.
Character Strong - Purposeful People
This month our Character Trait focus is: Empathy.

News from the Nurse
Happy December and Happy Holidays!
The most anticipated holiday of the year for most children is finally here. This next month will most likely be filled with holiday parties, family gatherings, lots of treats, and family traditions. I hope you are able to soak in all the big and little moments with your littles while remembering the importance of staying safe and healthy this holiday season!
Respiratory infections, like pneumonia or the flu, can spread through droplets in the air when a sick person coughs, sneezes, or talks near you. Respiratory infections can also be spread by direct contact with bacteria, viruses, and other disease- causing germs. When we touch people who are sick, or touch dirty surfaces, we contaminate our hands with germs. We can then infect ourselves with those germs by touching our face.
How to keep yourself and your little's protected this holiday season:
● Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Never touch your face with dirty hands.
● Wash your hands frequently. Washing hands with soap and water is the best way to get rid of germs in most situations.
● Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer to clean your hands if soap and water are not available.
● Get a flu shot every year. Encourage your family and friends to get a flu shot too!
● Ask your healthcare provider if the pneumonia vaccine is right for you.
● Avoid being close to people who are coughing and sneezing
To help prevent infections, keep your hands away from your eyes, nose, and mouth. WHY? Touching the mucous membranes on your face with your dirty hands allows germs that cause respiratory infections to enter the body.
It is estimated that people touch their faces about 23 times per hour! Respiratory infections can be caused by many different bacterial, viruses, and other disease-causing germs. When you touch your face with dirty, unwashed hands, germs can take up residence in your mucous membranes which can lead to an infection.
Handwashing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick!
Choose healthier food options and stay hydrated!
Stay Active! Go on family walks, build a snowman, or have a family snowball fight!

Attendance Matters!
Showing up to school greatly impacts a student's academic success. Families play a crucial role in ensuring that a student gets to school safely and on time daily. We understand that absences are unavoidable, such as illness or medical appointments. Please call in advance if your child will not be in school.
