SHARK SHOUTOUTS
- Shark Shout Out to Officer Tommy Clarke and Monomoy graduate and sometime substitute, Alexandra Sequin, for visiting the Animal Welfare Club recently!! Last month, Officer Clark brought our school doggie, Fritz, to a meeting to teach us about Fritz's breed, his upbringing, his job, and his personality. We learned so much about dogs' noses, ears, and eyes. We even got to see him show off his training! This past week, Alexandra visited to teach us about how she turned pet care into a successful personal business. Sequin Animal Care was started when Alex was much younger, so she taught us how to create a business, how to advertise, get pet insurance, be safe, and more. Most importantly, she taught us how to approach dogs, cats, and other animals for the first time as well as other care tips. Thank you Tommy Clarke and Alex Sequin! -Lisa Forte-Doyle, Beth Howe, and the AWC
- We'd like to give a huge shout-out to Joseph and Adelaide Thonus for the generous donation to The Gift for Thrift. The two students paid it forward by donating gift cards they received for community service hours. Thank you so much. -The Diversity Club
Sandscript and Creative Writing class visit the Cotuit Center for the Arts
Recently, members of Sandscript and students from last semester's Creative Writing class visited a special exhibit at the Cotuit Center for the Arts. The exhibit's theme was artwork inspired by literature. A special piece was created by artist/poet/teacher Lauren Kalita, who has been observing classes here at MRHS in preparation for a future degree. Ms. Kalita met us at the Center and explained her thought process while creating her magnificent work. Our students wrote reflections and poems as they walked around the Center; some even made bookmarks and some wrote in a storybook that was open for visitors to add their words. Thank you to Principal Police for supporting us and thank you to the Cotuit Center for the Arts for welcoming us without a fee and before they even opened for the day!

Scholar Athletes of the Month: February 2023
Gabriella Bassett
Sometimes it's hard for me to believe Gaby is only a freshman. Over the last two seasons, she has established herself as one of the most dominant players on the cape. Gaby has the makings of a truly special player and her career is only at its beginning! She finished the year with 25 goals and 15 assists leading our team in points. For me, as a coach, she has always been very coachable, a good teammate, and has even emerged as a leader already. I know Gaby has been trying her hardest outside of the rink as well, having been proud to show me her grades throughout the year! She is a very deserving scholar athlete, and I'm sure this won't be the last time for #5 to receive this! -Coach Zach Wells
Michael Desir
February Scholar Athlete is three-year Varsity Basketball Player, Captain Michael Desir. Michael has been a tremendous leader and example for our young team. He did not miss a single practice or game all season! Not only is Michael a great basketball player but also a phenomenal student. He works extremely hard and comes every day with a fantastic attitude. Thank you Michael for all you have done in your 4 years with Monomoy Basketball! -Coach Dan Taylor
