The Viking Spotlight is the part in my weekly newsletter used to highlight and celebrate our students and staff anytime we can! If you would like your child acknowledged for something they have accomplished, whether on campus or off-campus, please feel free to fill out this google form HERE. I look forward to celebrating our Vikings and all of the great things they are doing!

Last week’s Border Fire brought a wave of uncertainty and angst that disrupted not only our districtwide school activities, but also our sense of stability. During times like these, our community’s strength and resilience shine the brightest. I hope that you and your loved ones are safe and I'm so grateful for the rain that came this weekend to help with some of the fires. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigated the challenges of the past few days. Let’s continue to look out for one another and prioritize safety above all.

This week kicks off the start of registration season for the 2025-2026 school year. Over the next few weeks, our 8th graders will visit Mar Vista High School and Southwest High School, our admin will visit 6th grade classes at our neighboring elementary schools, and students will select their electives for next year with counselors. It's important that parents take advantage of registering early so that is squared away as soon as possible. See more info below.

I'm excited for the return of Music Monday tomorrow!! We haven't had a Monday at school in 5 weeks so it feels like an eternity! 😉 Will your Advisory class will be the first Music Monday winner of 2025?!?! 🎶

Before and after-school tutoring is back up and running this week! Get a head start on the classes you're struggling with so you don't fall too far behind!

All students must complete Online Registration each year. The window to submit the yearly Online Registration opens on Monday, January 27, 2025. The sooner you get it done, the better! Click the flyer below that applies to you for more information on registration.

PARENTS - Don't miss out on an opportunity to earn free rewards for just registering your child at MVA for next school year!! Any parent/guardian that completes their 2025-2026 Registration in the month of February will earn the following FREE rewards for their child:

We will be honoring our Viking students who earned Perfect Attendance and/or Most Improved Viking from November 4th-December 20th, as well as our Semester 1 Principal's Honor Roll. By Wednesday, January 29th, the parents of the students being honored will receive an email letting you know. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Scott.

Help our school be a safe place for you and your friends! If you have information on incidents surrounding bullying, vandalism, safety concerns, etc., report it anonymously to p3tips.com or use the app!

In an effort to help support our MVA students, we welcome any donations of school supplies and/or money. All funds would go directly to supporting our MVA students in the form of spirit shirts, celebrations, recognition awards, school supplies, and more.
