Sidewalk Art - VPHS Child Development
On Wednesday, students from Mrs. Carbajal's Child Development classes decorated sidewalks near the Science Building in front of school, showcasing their artistic talent!
Child development students study the mental, emotional, and physical development of children. Most recently, our VP Child Development classes complete their unit on middle childhood (which includes children ages 6 to 10 years of age). Common physical developments of middle childhood include fine-motor skills like the ability to effectively use pencils, paintbrushes, and chalk to create art projects. In this summative project, students collaborated in groups to select a middle childhood story to illustrate via sidewalk chalk. Stories included Toy Story, Wonder, Lilo & Stitch, and Pete the Cat, to name a few. Physical developments of middle childhood also include gross-motor skills like the ability to play hopscotch. Therefore, each student group also worked to create and incorporate a thematic hopscotch.
Kudos to Mrs. Carbajal and her Child Development students💙🤍
Villa Park Band Hosts 20th Annual Car Show

Spartan Profiles
Renee Niday-Yoshizaki-Girls Locker Room Attendant
Written by: Alexander Tran
Graduating from Bell Flower High School in 1976, Mrs. Renee currently works for Villa Park as a Physical Education Attendant. While attending Bell Flowers HS, Mrs. Renee was active in the school’s art, softball, and cheerleading programs. She would continue her education at Santiago Canyon College, where she majored in Art. As a student, Mrs. Renee was also a mother – raising four children, all of whom attended Villa Park High School. First starting her tenure with Villa Park in 2008 as an American Sign Language interpreter, Mrs. Renee’s favorite memory with the school would have to be seeing the amazing accomplishments that her children achieved while attending VPHS. In addition to this, Mrs. Renee also enjoys being of great help to both teachers and students alike – especially helping them achieve their respective goals. Outside of school, Mrs. Renee is a grandmother of three grandchildren and an owner of a home-based quilting business.
Jennifer Hunt-Health & Academic Support Teacher
Written by: Alexander Tran
Currently serving Villa Park High School as a Health and Academic Support teacher, Mrs. Hunt first joined our Spartan family in 1999. First graduating from Ramona and Downey High Schools, Mrs. Hunt was involved in the school’s swim team, ASB, and Interact Club. She soon attended Cerritos College, where she eventually transferred to California State University, Long Beach. Originally attending university as an Interior Design major, Mrs. Hunt would soon change her major to Health – a passion she continues to hold till this day. Prior to working at Villa Park High School, Mrs. Hunt previously worked at her alma mater as a student teacher. It was from these experiences that led to her successful teaching career here at VPHS. Throughout her 25 years of teaching, Mrs. Hunt’s favorite memories at the school would have to be when the Orange Police Department would come into her classroom and explain the issues with DUI. In addition to this, Mrs. Hunt enjoyed “Every 15 Minutes” – a two day program which introduced the dramatic effects of driving under the influence. Some fun facts about Mrs. Hunt is that she has two sons, Logan and Tyler, both of whom are products of Villa Park High School. She is also an avid reader, especially of the “Left Behind” series.
