Mr. Smith's Scoop π¦
Happy Fall Break!
On Friday our teachers spent the day in a live virtual training on the research and strategies of teaching vocabulary. This training is a part of our two-year professional development in The Science of Reading. One of our priority goals for this year is the continuation of the implementation of the new knowledge we are acquiring through this training in core reading time in all classrooms. Ultimately, we know that when students become strong readers, they can better access all learning.
Vocabulary is greatly impacted by the amount a student reads or is read to. I highly encourage families to have a nightly story time. This is a great time to bring the family together, and support vocabulary development and comprehension.
I hope you grab a great book and read over fall break.
See everyone on Monday, October 14th

#BePresentBePowerful
Daily on-time attendance is important. Last year we had 28% of our students miss more than 18 days of school. This can have a significant impact on student learning, student-learning behaviors and feeling connected to our school community.

Got a Birthday Coming Up? Purchase a Birthday Box!
Our cafeteria can provide birthday boxes at a very low cost. This reduces the impact on classroom learning time (every minute counts), reduces the likelihood of ants in classrooms and creates a fun celebration during lunch times. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1tkA7cxvKb4gCb7RDTtE2mxsgSZzxXMui/view?usp=sharing
If you have any questions please contact Valerie, our kitchen manager at vmartinez@madisoned.org!
Dollar Dress Down PTO Fundraiser Every Friday!

Camelview Health Office
We are in need of student uniforms! If your kids have outgrown any of their uniforms from first semester and they are still in good used condition, please consider donating to us! You can leave them in the front office. Thank you!
