Spring Break is Almost Here!
Spring Break is right around the corner, March 17-21. The third nine-week grading period ends March 13. Parents are encouraged to stay updated on their students' grades and assignments by accessing the Home Access Center.
Important Date to Remember:
- Friday, March 14 – Student Holiday/ Staff Development Day
Preparations for the next school year are in full swing. Current Student Registration is open. Parents can conveniently complete the registration process online at www.killeenisd.org/enroll. The deadline to complete all forms is March 14, 2025. After this date, you will have to complete the New Student registration process.
March is a month full of recognition and appreciation. Throughout the month, we are celebrating Women’s History Month, Athletic Training Month and Arts in Our Schools Month!

They did it again!!
The Ellison boys basketball team wrapped up February by clinching a spot in the state semifinals for a third straight year! Congrats to coach Alberto Jones Jr. and the Eagles.
February also saw Liberty Hill and Patterson sweep the boys and girls middle school basketball district championships, three Harker Heights Lady Knights wrestlers, Xenia Gutierrez, Ana Davis and Saniah Ebron, medal at the UIL State Wrestling Championships, the Ellison and Chaparral girls basketball teams advance to the third round of the playoffs and Shoemaker boys basketball team move on to the second round.
Winter sports are wrapping up (soccer playoffs start March 20), spring sports are in full swing (baseball, softball, track and field, golf and tennis), and there is a lot going on every day in Killeen ISD athletics.

As the weather warms up, spring is the perfect time to engage in outdoor activities with your family. Spending time outside not only supports physical health, but also encourages curiosity, creativity, and connection. Activities like nature walks, gardening, outdoor science experiments, picnics in the park, and stargazing are all great ways to enjoy the season. Grab your family and get going—there’s so much to explore and discover together!
Courage is the character trait for the month of March. Professional School Counselors and Social Emotional Learning Specialist will provide lessons on Courage, “Step Up” – Develop strength to face something difficult. This month we will focus on teaching self-regulation and coping strategies to push through fear, self-doubt, and anxiety to do things that feel hard or frightening.
Last Chance for Elementary Orchestra String Camp!
Last chance for current 4th and 5th grade students to register for the Killeen ISD Elementary Orchestra String Camp. The Killeen ISD Orchestra program will host an elementary string camp on March 8th, 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Roy J. Smith Middle School. This camp is open to all interested 4th and 5th grade students. No prior experience necessary. Participants will share their learning for family and friends in a brief camp performance at 11 am. Space is limited, please sign up using this registration link.
Killeen ISD Art Exhibit Open Until March 5
The Killeen ISD Art Exhibit is open through Wednesday, March 5. Please see flyer for community hours and information.
Save the Date: Cheer Tryouts
All High School Cheer tryouts will be taking place the first week of April. CHS, EHS, and SHS tryouts will be at Shoemaker High School and HHHS and KHS tryouts will be at Killeen High School April 1-4, 2025. Parent meetings will be held in March. Please check with your high school sponsors for more information.
Save the Date for Band & Orchestra Instrument Fairs:
Students currently in 5th, 6th or 7th grade that chose band and orchestra as their fine arts elective and have not been in band or orchestra previously are invited to attend our instrument fairs. These fairs are an opportunity for students to try out the instruments and meet their band and orchestra directors. Families may attend any of the fairs. Dates and times are listed in the attached flyer.
