New Technology Coming to Shay Physical Education
Dear Shay Parents/Guardians,
I are thrilled to announce that in the coming weeks we will be implementing a new physical educational technology and curriculum system called the IHT Spirit System. This new technology will engage your child in the latest heart rate monitor and assessment technology available today.
The Spirit System is a web-based assessment system that uses heart rate monitors that your child will wear in PE class. The heart rate monitors are designed specifically for physical education to help students gain instant feedback on their effort. They will also engage and educate students on a variety of fitness activities that optimize cardiovascular endurance, stamina, flexibility, speed, core strength, power, coordination and self-confidence.
The IHT Spirit System is designed to lend a hand to both teacher and student. Our department goals are to help your child better understand their own health and take ownership of their overall well-being for life. I also want to integrate tools like the Spirit System to assist our efforts in measuring the effectiveness and success of our physical education program. In addition, after we have had a chance to test out the system, you will receive feedback as soon as class ends, through emailed reports.
I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the rest of the year. Starting in the new year, ask your child about the different zones of physical activity and which zone they think they spent most of their time in during class.
Please contact me with any questions or comments you may have, and thank you for your support this school year! You can call my office number is 231-526-4531 or you can e-mail me at kholzschu@harborps.org.
Sincerely,
Kristie Holzschu

Change in Blackbird Lunch Schedule
Teachers are staying with their classes in the lunch room to help monitor and assist students, this is especially helpful with all of our winter gear. An additional benefit is that teachers are able to help encourage good eating habits. If you have any additional questions or suggestions please let us know.

Harbor Springs Public Schools Logo Design Survey
We are asking for your opinion..please tell us which design you prefer to be adopted as the District Logo. The designs are not meant to replace the Ram’s logo, the mascot for athletics. However, we want HSPS to be known for more than just athletics in terms of our overall District branding.
The final design would be on all letterheads, website, signs, and business cards moving forward into the future.
