20th Anniversary Celebrations
Friday, September 27th, was a special day as we celebrated the 20th Anniversary of LCHS by welcoming our Alumni back to the nest.
You can view the entire Alumni Panel discussion and Through the Years video HERE. This was inspired, created, and executed by seniors Heidi Jung and Lia Neveu. It was a beautiful tribute to Lakes!
We had over 50 Alumni enjoy the tailgate before our Homecoming Game. Our graduates were given the royal treatment with gifts, dinner, and pre-game celebrations. Pictures will be coming soon to our LCHS Facebook page.
Do you know an LCHS graduate? Please have them fill out this form so we can get their contact information. We'd love to include them in our 25th anniversary plans!

Parent Teacher Conferences
We are holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on Friday, October 11 from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. These conferences offer a valuable opportunity to discuss your child's progress and set goals for the remainder of the school year. Students who received a D or F in any subject at Checkpoint #1 are eligible to participate in a parent-teacher conference for that specific subject. The first round of invitations to Parent Teacher Conferences has been sent out this afternoon.
If your student is not struggling but you would still like to discuss your student's progress, you are always welcome to reach out to staff via email or phone.
Congratulations to the 2025 Commended/ Semi-Finalist National Merit Scholars
About a year ago, the class of 2025 took the PSAT/National Merit Qualifying Test. The primary function of this assessment is to serve as a practice SAT. At the same time, it serves as the initial screener to enter students into the prestigious National Merit Scholarship competition. Over 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools took this exam nationwide last October.
LCHS is proud to recognize eight seniors that are among the top academic performers in the nation on the NMSQT:
Sean Crevier, Holly Driscoll, Ammaar Fuad, Maverick Kucia, Adam Paxton, Reilly Shea, Kristin Tenoso were identified as Commended Students by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for each scoring in the top 50,000 highest scores in the nation!
Blake Sabilla has been announced as a Semifinalist and will be advancing in the scholarship program for scoring in the top 16,000 scores which is less than one percent of US high school seniors!
We celebrate with Sean, Holly, Ammaar, Maverick, Adam, Reilly, Kristin, and Blake for earning these honors. In the words of a great Chicago success story, Oprah Winfrey, “Know what sparks the light in you. Then use that light to illuminate the world.” Congratulations, and all the best in the future!

D117 Grading Categories
Beginning this school year, all teachers in D117 will use two consistent grading categories: Learning Tasks and Assessments. This shift aims to provide more clarity and consistency across all classes, helping students and parents better understand how grades are determined.
- Learning Tasks are assignments that help students practice and develop new skills. These tasks are usually done during daily lessons and allow students to engage with the material while building their skills. Examples of Learning Tasks include homework, classwork, participation in discussions, and small group activities, among other practice activities.
- Assessments are used to evaluate a student’s mastery of the skills and knowledge taught. These are more formal measures of progress. Assessments may include quizzes, tests, projects, and major essays or presentations.
