Car-Riders & Walkers

Please do NOT use the Storms Orthodontics parking lot to pick up your student. Their patrons are having trouble finding parking spots in the afternoons and this is because we have parents parking in the lot and waiting for a student to walk over. Students that are walking home should be walking to a nearby residence - NOT a parking lot. We have worked very hard to make our car-rider lines efficient. Please use the car-rider lines! Thank you!!

Social Media Awareness

The Arkansas Department of Education recently launched the Social Media Awareness Campaign, called "SMAC Talk". As students spend more time learning and socializing online, we all need to work together to ensure our students stay healthy and safe. The website has parent and student resources, as well as a monthly podcast!

Fresh 15 Disinfectant

Parents - please be aware! The disinfectant that we are using all day long could bleach clothes if it is still wet. Teachers and custodial staff either dry the surfaces with a paper towel, or they allow 15 minutes for the disinfectant to air dry. HOWEVER, if a student's clothes are wet or damp, the disinfectant COULD reactivate...and we have had this happen. We hate that this is happening, but this is one of the few disinfectants that meet public school safety standards.

From the Nurse....

Hellstern's flu shot clinic will be on Friday, October 9th. If you have a student that is only coming on Tuesday & Thursday, you may bring him/her to school at 8am Friday morning and we will administer those first (parents should stay and wait in the car). Forms for the flu clinic went home this past week. If your child did not bring it home, contact Nurse Amy at 750-8725.

REMINDERS

  1. Please help us out by washing your student's mask after each day he/she wears it. We also want to remind you that disposable masks are only good for one day!
  2. We ONLY have water-bottle filling stations - no fountains. Please remind your child to bring a water bottle EVERY day.
  3. Students must wear their lanyards every day - if you need a replacement the costs are as follows: Plastic ID case - $1, ID - $2, lanyard - $2
  4. Students should charge his/her chromebook EVERY night.


Let's Recap - Students bring FOUR (4) things EVERY day: Lanyard, mask, charged Chromebook, & water bottle.

Attention potential Duke Tip students

We have fielded many questions about the Duke Tip program for 7th graders already this year. The Duke Tip program has changed from previous years. Information will be coming. You have not missed anything yet. We will send information late-October/early-November. There is no longer a December test for 7th graders.

Support for blended students

Please remember, when students are at home working, their classroom teachers are busy teaching. Therefore, students that need support when they are working remotely can complete this form. The HMS remote support team will be checking this daily and responding to questions.


We STRONGLY encourage students to complete the daily work ON the day intended, not before.
