As we approach the holiday season, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued dedication and support. This has been a time of growth, learning, and connection, and it wouldn’t be possible without the collective efforts of our wonderful community.
Students, you have worked hard and shown resilience throughout the year—enjoy this well-deserved break! To our parents and families, thank you for being such supportive partners in your child’s education. To our staff, your commitment to excellence and care makes all the difference every day.
May your holidays be filled with joy, rest, and cherished moments with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for a new year of learning and success.

CMIT SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL SGA - COMMUNITY INITIATIVE - PAMPERS & WIPES DRIVE
The CMIT South High School Student Government Association (SGA) is thrilled to announce our initiative to collect diapers and wipes in support of the Laurel Advocacy & Referral Services Baby Pantry. This effort is part of our commitment to strengthen community support and provide vital resources to families in need. Join us in making a positive impact!
CMIT SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL COAT DRIVE
Hello CMIT South High School Family!
We are excited to announce that our student leadership organizations, including the National Honor Society and High School SGA groups, are coming together to host a Coat Drive.
This winter, we aim to ensure that youth in need have access to warm coats and essential items. We invite you to donate gently used or new coats suitable for infants through high school age. Your contribution can make a significant difference in a child's life and well-being during this season!

CMIT SOUTH SPANISH TUTORING
Are you looking to boost your Spanish skills this year? If so, don't miss the opportunity to attend Ms. Tejeda's Spanish tutoring sessions! She offers personalized assistance for both middle and high school students every Thursday after school from 3:00 to 4:15 PM in room 162. This is your chance to gain confidence and improve your understanding of the language. For any questions, feel free to reach out to Ms. Tejeda at ytejeda@cmitsouth.org. Sibling application for 2025-2026 SY
Good afternoon CMIT Family,
Attached you will find the new sibling preference form for the 2025-2026 year lottery. This form must be submitted along with the online lottery application. The lottery application will be opened from November 1, 2024 -February 7, 2025.
Please note:
Sibling preference is not guaranteed and is based on seat availability for that particular grade level.

Join us for a great after school experience where we have fun with everything art related! This club will be held on Tuesdays from 3-4pm STARTING OCTOBER 15th. It will be located in Mrs. Gadsden's classroom (room 306).
ANIME CLUB IS BACK
Join us for a great after school experience where we watch anime, discuss our favorite characters, read manga and so much more! This club will be held on Thursdays from 3-4pm starting STARTING OCTOBER 17th. It will be located in Mrs. Gadsden's classroom (room 306).

WHEN TO STAY HOME FROM SCHOOL/WORK
To CMIT parents/guardians
Please encourage your scholar to bring in their water to school or water bottle for refill. The school nor the nurse's office do not provide bottle water or cups to student.
If you know your child is experiencing any of the flu- like symptoms please monitor him/her before sending to school. COVID is still around

CMIT South Weekly Athletics Update
Week Recap

Middle School Basketball
Our MS basketball teams had an action-packed week, starting with matchups against Gwynn Park MS on Monday.
- Girls Basketball: The girls dominated with a decisive 41–15 victory, led by Aniyah Gary, who scored an impressive 22 points.
- Boys Basketball: In a battle of undefeated teams, the boys fought hard but unfortunately fell short.
On Wednesday, both teams faced Accokeek Academy in their final regular-season games:
- Boys Basketball: Despite a valiant effort in a closely contested game, the boys lost, finishing the season with a 7–2 record.
- Girls Basketball: The girls continued their unbeaten streak with a hard-fought 41–34 victory, closing their season undefeated.

High School Girls Basketball
The HS girls team took on Fairmont Heights HS in their only game of the week, securing a 35–25 win and improving their record to 3–2 for the season.

High School Boys Basketball
The HS boys varsity team had two challenging games this week:
- On Tuesday, they fell short against Fairmont Heights.
- On Thursday, they faced Gwynn Park, leading at halftime but ultimately conceding the game in the second half.
The JV team split their games:
- A win against Fairmont Heights brought their record to 1–1.
- A loss to Gwynn Park on Thursday dropped them to 1–2.
JV will next compete in a holiday tournament at Lackey HS on December 28th.

Track & Field
The track team participated in a relay-heavy meet on Thursday, with several athletes continuing to place in the top 3. The team looks forward to their next meet on December 23rd at the Sports and Learning Complex.
