Alhambra Unified School District News for Parents
Message from the Superintendent
Dear AUSD Community,
As we come to the end of another school year, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire AUSD community for your hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the success of our schools and students. Together, we have accomplished so much this year and made an incredible impact in the lives of students.
Even during the difficult and challenging moments, our students shone brightly in so many areas – a true testament to the tireless efforts of the teachers, staff members, parents, and of the students themselves. As we head into the summer months, I wish you all a wonderful break filled with relaxation, rejuvenation, and quality time with family and friends. I look forward to seeing everyone when you return in August, ready to continue our collective mission of providing the best education, opportunities, and support for our students.
A special message for the parents of our high school seniors:
As your child graduates from high school, I want to congratulate both students and parents on this significant achievement. This is an exciting time for your family, and I know you are extremely proud of all your child has accomplished. Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education and for your partnership with us throughout their academic journey. It has been a pleasure to watch these young men and women grow and develop over the years, and I have no doubt they will continue to do amazing things in the future. As your child moves on to the next chapter of their life, they will face new challenges and opportunities, but with your love, support, and guidance, they will be well-equipped to navigate them. Once again congratulations to you and your child on this incredible accomplishment. I wish you all the best in the future.
Again, thank you to everyone for a wonderful year…and have a fantastic summer!
In partnership,
Denise R. Jaramillo, Ed.D.
Superintendent

Alternative Income Form
Help us ensure that Alhambra Unified School District receives the maximum amount of federal funds for our schools. The collection of household income is a necessary step to receive millions of dollars in federal funds for the school that your child attends. Effective May 15, 2023, all parents will be required to respond to the Alternate Income Form (AIF) survey in order to gain access to other pages of Parent Portal. Please Note: If you completed the AIF survey prior to May 15, 2023, we need you to respond again in order to accurately gather data for the 2023-24 school year. Click Here for AUSD AIF Directions.

LITTLE BITS OF GOOD NEWS & INFORMATION FROM AROUND THE DISTRICT
Congratulations to our Year 1 and Year 2 Induction Teachers. AUSD is fortunate to have such a large group of talented teachers, who we hope they will have a long and successful career with us! They exceeded their goal and earned a schoolwide prize of high-fiving school staff with shaving cream. Can you recognize which Highlands staff members are beneath all that shaving cream?
Throughout AUSD, students of all ages participated in the May Harvest of the Month (HOTM): CARROTS. Students learned nutritional information and interesting facts (including that they come in many other colors besides orange) and enjoyed their favorite part of HOTM -- sampling.
Earlier this month Northrup School held their G.R.E.A.T. graduation ceremony. Thank you to APD officer Corporal Jerry Diaz for instructing the students, and to Assistant Chief Tai Seki, and School Resource Officers Marissabel Orozco and Norman Yao for also being there to support and celebrate the students.
Celebrating Husky Appreciation Day, Monterey Highland School's PTA provided the entire school, including students and staff, with Nomad Ice Pops treats. After enjoying their popsicles, the students also got to enjoy the beautiful day by playing outdoor games.
Some of AUSD's best middle school musicians gathered together in Garfield School's auditorium to entertain friends and family members at the annual Middle School Honor Band Spring Concert. Under the leadership of retired music teacher Dave Batti, the students' performed a selection of traditional and contemporary compositions.

West San Gabriel Valley SELPA PROM: "WELCOME TO PARADISE"
The West San Gabriel Valley SELPA (Special Education Local Plan Area) held their Prom at Mark Keppel High School, and it was a beautiful and heartwarming event. (The WSGV SELPA is a consortium of 14 school districts, including AUSD that work together to serve the common needs of our students.)
This year, the SELPA Prom, with its theme of "Welcome to Paradise," was made extra special through the hard work of MKHS ASB, who spent days planning, organizing, and decorating for the prom . he guests were delighted by Polynesian dancers and performances by the MKHS marching band and dance team.
Thank you to EVERYONE who worked tirelessly to make the SELPA Prom such a huge success. It was such a true labor of love and we're thrilled the students had such an amazing and memorable time!
